Fisher, known for her sharp wit and strong loyalty, took on a powerful role as a defender when her friend Heather Ross was s*xually assaulted by the producer. The late actress stood up strongly for Ross and made sure she was defended.

Heather Ross, a director, had planned to meet with the producer to discuss a possible project. But the meeting at the Tucson radio station went horribly wrong when the producer tried to assault her. Shocked and distressed, Ross turned to her friend Carrie Fisher, who responded with her usual fierce determination.

Instead of going the legal route, Fisher took a unique approach to make her point. In a move (that looked straight out of a thriller), she got a cow tongue from a well-known deli in Los Angeles, Jerry’s Famous Deli.

She put the tongue in a fancy Tiffany box with a bow and delivered it herself to the producer’s office at Sony Studios. Inside the box, Fisher included a much-needed chilling warning (as Ross revealed in an interview on US radio station, 94.9 MixFM):

If you ever touch another woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box!

Ross recalled the incident with gratitude and disbelief. She continued:

It felt validating to know, OK, first of all, this woman who I love as a friend was not just a fake Hollywood friend. That’s who Carrie Fisher was. She spoke out and she put things out there in your face.

Even though the incident happened years ago, its effect is still felt today. Fisher’s actions inspire others to speak up and seek justice. However, the entertainment industry has changed a lot since then, with movements like #MeToo.

Carrie Fisher’s Book Reveals Her Hidden Struggles

Though known as a strong and outspoken advocate, Carrie Fisher’s memoir shows her as a deeply hurt person trying to deal with past traumas. Her sudden death in 2016, brought a somber tone to her last book, The Princess Diarist. At first, the book seemed like a nostalgic look at the making of Star Wars, but it soon revealed a much darker reality.

Fisher’s honest story about a Hollywood party, where as a 19-year-old newcomer, she was targeted by older, drunk men, is shocking. This incident shows the predatory side of the industry.

The memoir shows a sharp difference between Fisher’s public image as the glamorous Princess Leia and her private battles. Her one-sided love for Harrison Ford and the lack of emotional closeness show her as an insecure young woman.

While Fisher was mostly single later in life, she was married twice before. Her first marriage was to Paul Simon in 1983, but they divorced a year later. She then married Bryan Lourd in 1991, but they divorced in 1994. They had a daughter together named Billie Lourd.
