Nicholas Galitzine’s Role in ‘Masters of the Universe’ Makes Him Part of an Elite Superhero Group That Includes Spider-Man and Batman

After portraying several royals on the screens, Nicholas Galitzine has now nabbed the role of a royal superhero in the reboot of the Masters of the Universe live-action film. His most recent role was as the frontman of a fictional pop band named August Moon in Amazon Prime’s The Idea of You opposite Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway.
Playing a superhero is perhaps every actor’s dream and Galitzine’s is about to be fulfilled soon. What is even more exciting about this opportunity is that this will make the British actor a part of an elite superhero group that consists of the likes of Spider-Man and Batman.
Nicholas Galitzine to Become a Part of an Elite Group with His Role in Masters of the Universe
Nicholas Galitzine embarked on his acting career following an injury that obliterated his acting career. Luckily for him, he also found success in this line of career with streaming films like Purple Hearts and Red, White and Royal Blue. Not only did these roles solidify his status as an established actor, but also made him the internet’s boyfriend.
After finding success with several Amazon MGM studios’ projects, he has now also landed the role of He-Man in the live-action adaptation of Mattel’s sword and planet-themed media franchise Masters of the Universe. He-Man is the alter-ego of Prince Adam and the main story revolves around his conflict with the supervillain Skeletor on the planet of Eternia.
Although He-Man is not a part of the MCU or DCU, he shares the same status as Spider-Man and Batman in the fact that none of these superheroes kill anyone. It was part of Mattel’s pre-requisite that the character does not kill anyone on screen and to ensure this, they had Skeletor have an army of robots (via IMDb) so that even if He-Man does end up killing someone, it’s not a human.
This is very alike Batman and Spider-Man who adhere to strict moral codes of not taking lives. While Batman believes that it would not make him any better than the criminals if he were to take their lives, Spider-Man follows his guiding principle of ‘With great power comes great responsibility’ as he strives to do what is right.
What Else Do We Know About Masters of the Universe?
Months after the announcement of Galitzine’s casting in the upcoming movie, it has been revealed that Latina actress Camila Mendes will be starring as the character Teela in the movie (via The Hollywood Reporter). Travis Knight, the founder of stop-motion animation studio Laika and director of the company’s Kubo and the Two Strings, will helm the project.
David Callaham, and brothers Aaron and Adam Nee wrote the initial drafts, and the final script was penned by Chris Butler, known for Academy Award-nominated animated features ParaNorman and Missing Link. Plot details are still tightly sheathed so fans will have to wait to find out.
Masters of the Universe is set to be released on June 5, 2026.
