Not Jason Sudeikis, Another SNL Star Will Make the Perfect Ted Kord in Blue Beetle 2 Who Dared to Parody Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible

Jason Sudeikis is widely known for his portrayal of the titular character in the sports comedy drama TV series Ted Lasso. His contribution to the sketch comedy Saturday Night Live as a writer and the occasional bit appearances from 2005 to 2013 is also praiseworthy. He occasionally appeared in the show in the following years and even made his hosting debut in 2021.

According to fans, it’s this reputation of Jason Sudeikis as a comedian that makes him a potential option for the role of Ted Kord in DC’s Blue Beetle 2. However, there is one more Saturday Nights Live (SNL) alum that can portray Ted Kord. In fact, this actor is better suited for this role given his distinct record as a comedian.

Jason Sudeikis has Competition for the Role of Ted Kord

Blue Beetle has its predominant focus on Jaime Reyes, the third Blue Beetle according to the DC comics. While Reyes portrayed by Xolo Mariduena is more than likely to embark on more adventures as indicated by DC’s CEO James Gunn, fans are quite interested in exploring the past of Blue Beetle.

Ted Kord is the only Blue Beetle with no superpowers and depends largely on his wits to save the day. While Jason Sudeikis is a very good choice for this role, SNL actor Will Forte can do it even better due to his expertise in incorporating humor in action sketches.

One of Will Forte’s most popular roles on SNL was MacGruber which was the parody of an action hero. In addition to this, Forte’s humorous take on Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible series and MacGyver also make him an excellent fit for the role of Ted Kord who is known for his silly and humanly antics owing to his lack of superpowers.

Dan Garrett and Ted Kord were the two Blue Beetles before Jaime Reyes. The latter was considered dead as he had gone missing about then years ago. However, through an email on Ted Kord’s computer in the post-credits scene of the superhero movie, it was revealed that Ted is, in fact, alive.

Jason Sudeikis has grown popular recently due to his portrayal of the Ted Lasso. This role earning him several nominations for the comedic effect in the series as well as his character combined with the fact the similarities between the names of Ted Kord and Ted Lasso led fans to start a rumor that Sudeikis might be playing Ted Kord’s role in Blue Beetle.

The rumor was debunked months ago as it was revealed that the movie’s primary focus is the third Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes eradicating any chances of Ted Kord’s appearance in the film. However, the post-credits scene has given fans newfound hope that the Kodachrome actor will be seen in Blue Beetle 2. Even director Ángel Manuel Soto is in support of this fan casting, thus increasing Sudeikis’ chances of portraying Ted.
