Chris Hemsworth gained international recognition for his portrayal of the Marvel superhero Thor in the eponymous movie released in 2011. He reprised the role several times and one of the most recent movies in which he appeared as the Norse God was Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie was released to rave reviews and established the actor as one of the world’s highest-paid actors.

On his unwanted trip to Earth, Hemsworth’s character Thor falls in love with Natalie Portman who portrays Jane Foster in the franchise. While the duo has great chemistry, there is someone else too who might have served as the God of Thunder’s love interest if things had gone differently.

Chris Hemsworth Almost Romanced Men In Black Co-star In Thor

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has managed to enthrall its fans for years. Hopefully, it aims to continue doing so as even after all these years, people’s craze for superheroes does not seem to have been curbed at all. While the love lives of MCU’s superheroes are not the first thing on the list of the studio’s priorities, they certainly do hold some importance in the long run.

It is no secret that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor was romantically involved with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. However, there could have been another romance subplot in Thor: Ragnarok if Eric Pearson had not replaced screenwriters Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost who had planned a romance subplot between Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Thor.

The writers of Thor: Ragnarok believed that casting Thompson as Thor’s love interest would be unjust to her character. In an interview with Yahoo! News, screenwriter Eric Pearson said:

“It was like, ‘Let’s give Valkyrie her own story that connects with Thor, and if it makes sense for them to get together, then great.'”

Pearson went on to say that they had two really good-looking actors and the characters these actors were going to play were going to be great fighters so if the story were to go there, they would make an amazing couple but the storyline just doesn’t touch that realm in the movie.

Although there was no romance between Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in Thor: Ragnarok in which Thompson stars as Valkyrie, the chemistry they have with each other is palpable in the movie. Even in reality, they have a very strong bond as friends who praise each other often.

Having worked together in the second installment of the Thor franchise, it was like striking gold for Hemsworth when he realized that he would be starring alongside Thompson in Men In Black International. The movie did pretty well at the box office as it grossed $253 million against a budget of $100 million, and the duo’s performance was lauded by critics.
