“Obvious choice in hindsight”: Viral Barry Keoghan Scene From Music Video Has Fans Demanding His Return as the Joker
Ring, ring! It’s fate calling, and it wants to remind DC casting of a certain, scene-stealing Irishman. With a viral Barry Keoghan music video scene, the internet’s got a message, demanding his return as the fan-beloved character, ‘Joker’. This “obvious choice in hindsight,” as fans cackling with glee, has everyone picturing Keoghan’s chilling portrayal taking center stage ONCE MORE!
A thriller movie, loosely based on DC comic characters, Joker features Barry Keoghan—one of the most iconic villains in cinema history. This rather cracked masterpiece is bold and utterly devastating, but of course, fans have loved it. However, yet again, the viral music video has social media buzzing like bees, awaiting the portrayal of the failed (but favorite) clown!
Surprise! Carpenter & Keoghan’s sizzling duet ignites “obvious choice” debate for upcoming Joker
Sabrina Carpenter’s brand-new music video, “Please, Please, Please,” sent a literal social media uproar—but hey, not for its catchy tune, but for her irresistible chemistry with co-star Barry Keoghan! The actress and singer hinted earlier this week that she’ll be dropping a new track off her next album, Short n’ Sweet.
The two had yet to make a public appearance, but they had been sighted together several times—and had even had several red-carpet moments. Many people are enthralled with the video because (OMG!!) the actor and singer’s incredible connection as well as their stunning looks are unreal! This collaboration, though exceedingly a perfect fit (“obvious choice in hindsight,” might say some), has fueled discussions about the potentially-popular criminal.

Keoghan had already been confirmed for the role with a brief appearance in the last scenes of the 2022 Batman movie. Although his casting is uncontested, a lot of people have concerns with the character design that director Matt Reeves selected. Batman went one step further and covered the majority of his face in scar tissue, but the ‘Joker’ is well-known for having scars on his face (?) This has some fans complaining about the fact that he won’t be able to convey the character’s trademark expressions.

His take just seems a little… derivative. Unoriginal and bland. Idk. Doesn’t seem like the Joker, just another “gritty”(ugh) take on him.
Maybe if we get a bit more of him in action I’ll feel better about it.

While the smoldering chemistry between Carpenter and Keoghan is undeniably charming, it also showcases the immense love fans have for Keoghan. Outperforming iconic portrayals by former DC cast members, Keoghan has captivatingly carved his niche as ‘Batman’.
How Keoghan carved his niche as Batman, outperforming former DC cast, including Heath Ledger & Joaquin Phoenix
Following his brief role in The Batman, Barry Keoghan smashes a record set by Joker, outperforming former DC performers including Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jared Leto. Although there were other enemies in Matt Reeves’ three-hour film The Batman, the Joker only made a fleeting cameo toward the film’s conclusion and was hidden by shadows.
The Batman director Matt Reeves gave an explanation of Barry Keoghan’s origin story as the Joker in a 2022 interview with Deseret.com, stating that the character’s unusual appearance is due to a congenital disease rather than an accident or other type of harm. Reeves took influence from two sources: The Phantom of the Opera and the title role played by Conrad Veidt in the silent film “The Man Who Laughs” from 1928.
