One MCU Story in Which Peter Parker Finally Gets a Happy Ending Will Never be a Part of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4- Here’s Why
English actor Tom Holland portrays the character of Peter Parker, a.k.a., Spider-Man, in the MCU, starting with his first appearance in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War before spanning out for his stand-alone movies. Holland is regarded as one of the most talented actors in the industry. Apart from his Spider-Man character, he has worked on Uncharted, The Devil All the Time and Cherry.
Holland is currently starring as Romeo in Jamie Lloyd’s West End revival of Romeo and Juliet, and the response to his performance has been mixed, but the actor is hopeful. He is also looking forward to returning as Spider-Man for the fourth installment of the movie. Fans have always wondered if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will get a happy ending, and now that question has been seemingly answered.
One MCU story reveals how Peter Parker gets a happy ending, but it’s not Tom Holland’s Peter Parker
According to Comics Unlocked, there is one story or universe where Peter Parker gets a happy ending, unlike in all timelines and universes where he only gets to experience sadness and disappointment. Uncle Ben’s death became one of the most defining factors in his life, and with Gwen’s death, the way he treated everyone in his life changed.
Peter Parker is regarded as one of the most tragic figures in comic books, but readers and fans surely want him to have a happy ending. The video narrates,
In this universe, Peter Parker doesn’t develop any powers after being bitten and instead suffers a severe allergic reaction that lands him in the hospital. During this time, Spider-Man comes to recruit Peter Parker but finds him of no use. One of them begins creating an antidote to cute Peter Parker about his condition, but suddenly Parker begins transforming into an actual spider and almost kills Uncle Ben.
The story further mentions that Spider-Man manages to inject Parker with an antidote, and as a result, he loses all of his Spider powers but can live a happy life. Uncle Ben and Aunt May are also alive in this storyline. In Tom Holland’s third installment of the movie, he asks Dr. Strange to remove the world’s memories of Peter Parker, and in the process, he loses his best friend and girlfriend, leaving him alone. Aunt May dies after Green Goblin’s attack, which suggests a not-so-happy ending for Holland’s character.
However, Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned in the movie, shared with ComicBook that he’s hopeful for better things, adding that it’s sad that he has no friends anymore.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 gets an update
In an interview with Deadline, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman teases the highly anticipated fourth part of Holland’s Spider-Man series. He said,
Let me tell you, when the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film.
Back in April, when Holland spoke to Deadline, at the Sands International Film Festival, he was asked for an update on the movie and if he was going to return. He said at the time that he’d always wanted to do Spider-Man movies, adding that he owes his life and career to Spider-Man.
We have the best in the business, working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing. This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative process so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning.
Holland added that they have all agreed that they do not want to overdo things. After the SAG-AFTRA strikes concluded, the actor noted that they were giving writers the time they needed to hit the ground running.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to stream on Netflix.
