Dr. Vegapunk revealed something huge to the One Piece world. In the latest chapter 1114, He explained how countless islands will soon be undersea, following the ongoing earthquake. Meanwhile, Eiichiro Oda cleared the fog about the origin of the Sun God Nika and Joy Boy.

Oda via Vegapunk revealed that Nika belongs to an ancient island Elbaf, where once Giants dwelled. However, fans guessed that possibility a long time ago when the One Piece author had yet to introduce it formally.

One Piece’s centerpiece Sun God Nika’s origin explained

As much as Eiichiro Oda loves to keep fans in mystery, the One Piece fandom is keen enough to link the theory that Mangaka put for eastern eggs. While fans often get setbacks on their theories, they hit a bullseye this time.

“… Just like the legendary Sun God Nika from the fables of Elbaf…,” said Dr. Vegapunk.

There wasn’t much detail about what Nika was or how he became Joy Boy to the people. However, one thing was certain he hailed a race that possessed longevity. In the fight between Luffy and Kaido, Zunesha proclaimed the return of Joy Boy to the world when Luffy entered Gear 5, showing a direct connection between him and Joy Boy.

For the record,  Zunesha has stood tall for over 1000 years. It might not be surprising that Nika/Joy Boy exceeded a human age barrier to establish a relationship with one of One Piece’s largest creatures. Hence, many guessed that someone who lived through the ancient void era might not be a human, but a Giant, which is now confirmed.

Elbaf Island may play a crucial role in Luffy’s future journey

As a memory refreshment, Elbaf Island was first mentioned in chapter 866, where Big Mom met his adopted mother, Sister Caramel. She had a dream of co-existence between humans and giants, and lived in Elbaf, alongside Giants. However, Big Mom lost his control and created a havoc during The Winter Solstice Festival. A tragedy soon followed her actions.

The Giants Warrior Pirates, who once hailed as a formidable pirate group, became weak after lost their captains. However, as the story progresses, this island could be Luffy’s next destination where he might make allies to go against his fellow Yonkos and the World government.

Not to mention, Luffy has yet to completely defeat Big Mom like he did to Kaido. This time he may get that done with the help of Giants Warrior Pirates, who hold a grudge against her.

Joy Boy and Sun God Nika are different personalities

As Dr. Vegapunk mentioned in the recent One Piece manga release, something big related to Sun God Nika and Joy Boy that people must know hidden in the forgotten history between 800 to 900 years.

“We must first address the past, specifically what happened between 900 and 800 years ago. A century long period that most think of as a blank part of history.”, said Dr. Vegapunk.

“… The star of this story was born 900 years ago in a bountiful and advanced kingdom. Just like legendary Sun God Nika from the Fables of Elbaf, he too fought with a stretchy and elastic body. They call him Joy Boy. The first one to be called a Pirate.”

Many fans were under the impression that Joy Boy and Sun God Nika could be the same person. However, He mentioned Joy Boy as the First Pirate who “fought with a stretchy and elastic body” like Sun God Nika. it clearly implies that the two of them are different entities and perhaps belong to different generations but with the same power as Luffy.
