One Piece: Eiichiro Oda’s Forgotten Storyline Might be the True Ending of the Series That Will Pit Luffy Against Shanks
Fans have years of theories ready in case Eiichiro Oda asked for One Piece’s finale publicly. However, fortunately, the mangaka isn’t out of ideas yet. With every chapter, the number of speculations is growing, but none of them landed on the spot. And the most frequent query among those is, “How’ll One Piece end?”
Even if you have theorized, let’s dig into some old adventures, where Oda might have revealed the ending, waiting to be discovered by the keen eyes of fans. Luffy has been in search of One Piece for nearly 20 years now. And with Wano Country Saga’s ending, it might finally be time for Oda to make Luffy the “King of Pirates”.
Long Ring Long Land arc might have the hidden One Piece ending
The Long Ring Long Land arc which kicked the Water 7 saga, seemed like everyday light side-story that Oda often uses before entering into a plot arc. However, it’s no surprise that the author’s brilliance lies in his witty foreshadows that linked the overall stories, even the side ones.
Keeping that in mind, a theory rapidly spreading among fans which is suggesting an alternate ending for One Piece that everyone isn’t ready for. On Long Ring Long Land, the Foxy Pirates were engaged in a Davy Back Fight with Luffy and his friends, putting crew members’ loyalty on the line. After a string of dangerous but fun games, Luffy emerged victorious, making yet another memory for fans.
So, what if One Piece has a finale featuring a Davy Back fight? Sounds unlikely, but not for Eiichiro Oda.
Shanks, who’s finally done staying behind curtains, will have a pivot role in a future arc, featuring a clash between two of Yonkos, Luffy and Shanks. However, what if that deciding battle between them, is not a hand-to-hand but a Davy Back Fight between both the Red Haired Pirates and Straw Hat Pirates? With that none of the beloved characters has to die.
A shooting contest between son and father, Usopp and Yasopp, along with Sanji and Lucky Roux’s cooking duel. Meanwhile, Zoro will be crossing swords with Beckman to claim the best first man title. This will set the stage for Shanks and Luffy to have their long-awaited reunion. And it makes more sense if the reward of the battle will be something big, let’s say One Piece itself.
A final death battle to set Luffy as the epitome of One Piece world
Despite the Shanks-Luffy Davy Back Fight sounding intriguing, a battle to the death can still be something Oda could add to set Luffy before achieving his dream. Even if Luffy gets the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece, by defeating Shanks in a near-fatal battle, there is assurance that the Blackbeard Pirates captain, Marshall D. Teach, will stay still.
So, a final fight between him and Luffy can finally bestow him the title of the King of the Pirates. However, what if Eiichiro Oda didn’t end the series and took it to the next series, called “Two Piece”? Well, the mangaka had a brief but not confirmed plan on that… yet.
In 2020, Oda jokingly said that he’d like to start a new manga called “Two Piece” after One Piece ends.😂 He also said in 2007 that he longed for Akira Toriyama’s style of releasing a short manga every now and then.
