“One thing I asked for in each of them was…”: Harrison Ford Demanded One Crucial Element in Every Indiana Jones Movie – Fans Missed it
Hollywood veteran actor Harrison Ford has been cast in movies of a variety of genres. He has appeared in both leading roles and supporting ones in his career spanning nearly six decades. In addition to an Academy Award nomination, he has received numerous accolades including the AFI Life Achievement Award.
Harrison Ford gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of Han Solo in the space opera Star Wars and also for starring as the titular character of the action-adventure franchise Indiana Jones. Just before the release of the fifth and final installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford revealed the one thing that he asked for in every single Indiana Jones movie.
Harrison Ford’s Crucial Demand For Every Indiana Jones Movie
Harrison Ford was cast as the fictional professor of archaeology Dr. Henry Walton Jones aka Indiana Jones for the first time in the 1981 movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Thereafter, he kept reprising his role in a prequel and three more sequels including the final movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which was released earlier this year.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainement, the Blade Runner actor revealed the one request that he made during the making of each new movie in the Indiana Jones franchise. He said:
“One thing I asked for in each of them was to further embrace a complication of the character. I wanted to know more about Indiana Jones. I wanted the things that he did to be generated out of his character, out of his nature, out of his experience. I didn’t want it just to be pinned on like a merit badge.”
If there is one thing that Ford made abundantly clear through his portrayal of the fedora-clad archaeologist, it is that he was committed to bring something new to the character each time, in order to show its development.
Harrison Ford Had A Certain Aim For His Final Movie
Harrison Ford has bid farewell to the Indiana Jones franchise with the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which also features Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While this implies that fans also have to let go of their favorite archaeologist, they can celebrate the fact that he had a good run.
In the same interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, The Fugitive star also revealed the aim he had for the swan song of the beloved franchise, saying:
“I wanted these films to inspire people, to make them laugh, to make them cry. And so for me it’s been just an unbelievable experience to have this opportunity. And the last one, I wanted to be about character. I wanted it to be about what it’s like to be an older archeologist.”
Ford did a phenomenal job in portraying the character on the big screen and was welcomed by his fans with open arms even though the movie did not do too well on the commercial front. That being said, at least the Pariot Games star gave his best to Indiana Jones, no matter what the outcome was.
