Shakira has been honored with the Woman of the Year award at Billboard’s Latin Women in Music 2023 gala this year. The singer of famous songs like Hips Don’t Lie, Whenever, Wherever, Perro Fiel, and La Tortura delivered an emotional speech at the Watsco Center in Miami.
Shakira’s speech received multiple standing ovations from the audience as the singer delivered it to celebrate all the women, the intensity with which women can love, and their bravery which is way more than what we are taught.

The speech delivered by the Waka Waka star, Shakira was a subtle shade to her previous partner Gerard Pique. During her speech, Shakira went on to say, “There comes a time in every woman’s life when she no longer depends on someone to love or accept herself as she is.”
Colombian singer Shakira and Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué aren’t any longer together but it is a fact that their fans worshipped them for more than a decade. The former couple had a togetherness of twelve whole years and were blessed with two sons. However, in June 2022, the lovebirds called it quits.
As per the rumors, after returning from her tour, Shakira noticed her empty jars of strawberry jam, which was greatly despised by Pique and her kids made her suspicious that her partner was seeing someone else behind Shakira’s back. The suspicions were true and the duo split apart last year.
Shakira even said in her speech that, “It doesn’t matter so much if someone is faithful or not, what really matters is if you continue to be faithful to yourself.”
