Things are going to get intense because fans will get to witness their two favorite stars, Paul Mescal and Ariana Grande, on different theater screens. Both stars are going to be present on the big screens in November this year. Paul Mescal will be seen in the upcoming movie Gladiator II, whereas Ariana Grande will be seen in the musical fantasy film Wicked.

Both movies are a total opposite in genre and have already made fans bounce off the walls for coming November. The releases have made the fans remember the time when the Barbie vs Oppenheimer debate was in talks.

Gladiator II will follow the story of Maximus’s son Lucius and is already done with its production phase. Wicked will be released in two parts, with Part 2 releasing next year. Both movies will be released in the same month, which has once again started a debate about ‘who will watch what’.

Just like Barbenheimer, fans have already started creating new terms for both movies. The movies would be facing strong competition from each other because the directors of the two movies have done some great work in the past. Ridley Scott’s Gladiator (2000) won five Oscars, whereas Wicked director Jon M. Chu directed an all-Asian cast movie (Crazy Rich Asians) for the very first time, which too was a box office success.

Wicked was ‘preponed’ by 5 days as it was earlier set to be released on November 27, but now both movies will be released on the same day, i.e., November 22. According to sources, the movie was planned to avoid competition with Disney’s sequel, Moana 2, but now it will face Gladiator II.

It seems like it has become a trend for Hollywood to release two great movies on the same day. It does not only make the competition fierce but also puts the fans in a dilemma about what to choose. According to Buzzfeed, some of the famous examples include The Matrix vs 10 Things I Hate About You (March 1999), Jumanji vs Val Kilmer’s Heat (December 1995), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows vs Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (December 2011), Toy Story vs Casino (November 1995), etc. All these exceptional movies were released on the same day and gave fans the same excitement they are feeling today.
