The Batman movie has officially started its production and Peter Sarsgaard will be playing the role of Gotham City District Attorney Gil Colson. This new character has no known place in the DC universe.

Sarsgaard has previously played a role in the DC Comics, opposite to Ryan Reynolds as the villain Hector Hammond in the 2011 film, Green Lantern.

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” Reeves said in a previous interview. “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that.”

Reeves had previously directed  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes

In The Batman, Robert Pattinson will be playing the role of Bruce Wayne. The cast also includes Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Jayme Lawson  as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis  as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman will be hitting the theaters on June 25, 2021.
