Popular TV Shows Fans Forget Were Inspired By Books
Honestly, it is not fair to make movies based on books. The reason is that they end up cutting off the vital characters from the book due to less screen time. So it is a better option to make popular TV shows based on the books right?
And many times shows have done this successfully and honestly they have done a great job. Of course, there have been many popular shows based on books that we already know about like The Vampire Diaries or Pretty Little Liars. But did you know these popular TV Shows were also inspired by books?
1. Fresh Off The Boat
Everyone loves the series Fresh off the boat, right? It is based on an immigrant Taiwanese family in the 1990s and they are trying to adjust to the USA. We see the kids trying hard to find a middle ground. It is a comedy genre and we love some sassy sarcasm coming from the characters too!
The ABC show is actually based on a memory written by Chef Eddie Huang. In the show, he is of course 12 and we see him recounting his experiences while trying to adapt to both Asian and American cultures!
2. Dexter
Through the show, the audience met Dexter Morgan; a man who has homicidal tendencies and lives a dual life. During the day, he works as a forensic technician for the police department but in his free time, he kills the bad guys! So that makes it easier for the fans to cheer for a serial killer right?
The show interestingly is inspired by Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. When the book was picked up by Showtime to make it into the series, Jeff had only published the first two books. It later ended up into an eight-book series about Dexter!
3. Bridgerton
The first season was such a hit among the fans, that Netflix came up with the second season. And we already that currently, the second season is literally the hot topic worldwide. Everyone has gone crazy with the story, acting, cast, set, dresses, everything related to the brand new season.
But the series is based on the books written by Julia Quinn. The first season was based on the book The Duke and I. Meanwhile, the second season is based on the book The Viscount Who Loved Me.
4. The Haunting of Hill House
If you are a hardcore fan like us, you would remember that the series started with Mike making a name for himself in the series. The show is a loose adaptation of a novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson. The series was just so great, right? Kudos to Netflix for always finding the right cast. And honestly, we can never forget the Bent-Neck Lady twist!
5. The Queen’s Gambit
The show is set during the Cold War era and sees the rise of an orphaned chess prodigy Beth Harmon who is struggling with an addiction in a quest to become the greatest chess player in the world.
