The much anticipated day of King Charles III’s coronation finally arrived and the question of whether Prince Harry would be in attendance or not was also answered. While Meghan Markle decided to sit this one out, the Duke of Sussex did attend the ceremony but also left in a hurry. There could be a plethora of reasons for his doing so, the most prominent one seems to be that his son Archie’s 4th birthday coincided with the coronation, and therefore probably daddy Duke had to be back in time for the cake-cutting.

Prince Harry left London within an hour of the coronation

Reports have confirmed that Prince Harry almost instantly left London post his father, King Charles III’s coronation on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. He was on his flight to the US less than an hour after the royal ceremony; as was proven by his being sighted at the VIP Windsor Suite at Heathrow Airport at 3 p.m. And the aim was to be present for his son’s birthday.

The father of two did not spend more than a day in the United Kingdom, having arrived only on Friday via a commercial flight. He spent the night at the Frogmore Cottage that became notorious when the King threw Markle and Harry out of the property and gifted it to Prince Andrew in early 2023.

Prince Harry’s attendance at the royal ceremony had been a big question mark in light of the events transpiring for the past year. First, it was the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan that led to some controversies regarding the royal family but the real royal nightmare was Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare. As he really didn’t spare anyone in his book and it made several serious allegations about many people in his family. But despite that, he had hoped for a reconciliation, and attending his father’s coronation was probably a step forward on that end.

Although the estranged prince probably did try to be the bigger person here, reports suggest that he was heavily snubbed at the royal occasion. Despite being the King’s own son, his seat was assigned in the third row and he sat beside Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin Princess Alexandra.

Reports say that the front row was only for the working royals and the renegade prince had given up his royal duties years ago. Furthermore, the Duke of Sussex was blocked by Princess Anne’s giant hat feather.

Meanwhile, King Charles III made his customary appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony and was joined by Queen Consort Camilla, an honor indeed. A credible insider had claimed that there was “no way” King Charles would invite his younger son to make the honorary balcony appearance after everything that he had done, but he also added that since the King “loves his son… emotions of the day may just overtake everything.”

It wasn’t the case though as the newly crowned king was too busy to ask his son to stay.
