Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Reportedly Made $100M as Part of Exclusive Deal To Make More Royal Family Bashing Content
It is no surprise that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s deal with Netflix is in the multi-million range. The Sussexes are financially on their own without any involvement from the royal family. They have their own production company named Archewell Productions. Their first content for Netflix is the controversial docuseries, Harry & Meghan released this December. It has unsurprisingly grabbed a lot of attention since it was in the making.
The series is directed by Liz Garbuz and includes footage from the royal family, interviews, etc. Although the docuseries is facing a lot of hate, especially from the royal experts, regardless, it is a Netflix hit. The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex have more upcoming future content ideas for the deal with Netflix. And apparently, Markle and Prince Harry will be earning millions with their content.
The Sussexes and Their Multi-Million Deal with Netflix
In 2020, it came to light that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had struck a “multi-year” and “multi-million” dollar deal with Netflix. This was shortly after they stepped down from their royal duties. The deal was a collaboration with the royal couple’s Production Company Archewell Productions. And their contents range from documentaries to children’s programs. The first to come out of the deal is Sussexes ‘ 6-part docuseries called Harry & Meghan. It attracted a lot of attention even before it was released. The pair especially Markle has been flooded with negative opinions since it was announced.
However not everything is bad for the Sussexes as several news outlets have reported that the deal was worth around 100 million dollar. And whatever may be the reaction from the media and the royal experts, the docuseries is a Netflix hit which is a good news for Markle and Prince Harry.
Furthermore, it was recently announced that another Archewell production titled Live to Lead will also be released by Netflix soon.
Why is Harry & Meghan so Controversial?
After stepping down as royal seniors, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to part their ways with the royal family. This decision itself drew in lots of criticisms for the couple. Markle who has been under close scrutiny of the media since her arrival in the royal family recieved much more hate due to the Docuseries. As for the series itself, it includes various archival footage related to the royal family plus interviews of the couple’s friends and Markle’s family.
Many royal believe it to be the sussexes way to bash the royal family. According to a royal expert Tom Bower, Markle was hungry for “fame and fortune”. And this hunger led her to give up the royal duties. Bower also pointed out that Prince Harry was under the spell of his wife. Therefore he agreed with Markle on pretty much anything.
The docuseries was directed by Liz Garbus and was released in the first week and the second Week of December. It is available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu.
