“We fell in love gradually. It wasn’t really dramatic. One blink and it would have gone.”

The story of Princess Diana’s split from her husband was initiated when the former couple first met in 1977. While Prince Charles was a 29-year-old charming man, he met a sixteen-year-old Lady Diana Spencer at her ancestral home. Years after their first meeting, the Princess and Prince fell in love in 1980, followed by their engagement the very next year in February. Months after the infamous engagement, Princess Diana and Prince Charles walked down the aisle at St. Paul Cathedral.

However, the two eventually found love in different people, leading toward a dramatic married life. The biography of the Princess of Wales not only depicted her troubled marriage and Prince Charles’ extramarital affair but also revealed that she had suicidal thoughts due to isolation and lack of love. Prince Charles then admitted to cheating on his wife in 1994, followed by the Princess disclosing in 1995, that Camilla Parker Bowles was involved in their marriage calling it “crowded”. Finally, in 1996, the couple agreed to call it quits, moving from each other to find peace.

However, the very next year, the whole world received a major shock that Princess Diana was no more. She couldn’t survive due to severe injuries sustained after her car crashed at the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France. The Prince was highly devasted by his former wife’s death, and to honor her at the funeral, the Prince wore a navy suit as the Princess of Wales always preferred it.
