Raquel Welch, Legendary S*x Icon of ‘60s, Passes Away at 82 After Years of Being a Recluse
Raquel Welch was the glitz and glamour of the ’60s people talk about. Her sad demise at the age of 82 marks the end of an era. The movie Fantastic Voyage launched her into her stardom, and since then she did not have to look back. After that came One Million Years B.C which showed the world what power she holds, although she had only three lines in the film, her role was the most memorable one in the whole picture. This movie was the reason she is still known as an international s*x symbol of the sixties.
She paved the way for many, and movie buffs all around the world are reminiscing about her legendary body of work after her passing.

After being deemed as the quintessential s*x symbol, Raquel Welch without actually posing nude for any kind of magazine took the industry by storm. Her role in One Million Years B.C and the famous deerskin bikini were the reason for the sudden rise in her popularity. She said,
“I’m often asked if I get sick of talking about that bikini,—But the truth is, I don’t. It was a major event in my life so why not talk about it? Almost every day I get copies of the photo sent to me for an autograph. I must have looked at that photo one million times. I remember James Stewart telling me a long time ago never to avoid your fans or the things that your fans like about you. It was good advice.”
Although she had to shoot the film in extreme conditions and without proper precautions, she believes it was worth it. She revealed to FOX News,
“I had already so much penicillin when I was wearing the fur bikini that I almost died,— I had to rush, turn my car around and head right back to the doctor’s office, just run upstairs, jump in the elevator and all that.”
She further added,
“And I barely got there. They had to shoot me with an antidote. Otherwise, I would have died. It was really rough shoot, man. Really rough. And then I came to London and everybody knew who I was.”
Welch also paved the way and broke out of the type caste of being a dumb blonde, the actress showcased her capability in the comedy genre too. For which she bagged a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy. She also portrayed strong female characters in multiple movies and believed it was very important to shed light on such stories.

Raquel Welch died this Wednesday, 15th February 2023 after suffering from a minor illness. The actress preferred not being in the limelight for the last couple of her years. Welch’s manager confirmed the news of her demise to the AFP News agency in an email, stating she died after suffering “a brief illness” and provided no further information regarding the matter.
The lady had a great impact on the film industry that changed it for life. The incredible body of work is what she is living behind. She will forever be immortalized through her craft and in turn, will live on forever .
