Not every project from a blockbuster studio is destined to be a smashing hit. There are some hits and misses that suffer a blow and disappoint fans. It seems to be a bad patch for Disney and Marvel since their latest series Echo did not drum up much buzz or good reviews from the critics as recent reports suggest. The studio needs to buck up and make up for the losses.

It seems that Marvel is mending its ways and finally realizing that angering fans will get them nowhere. It is indeed the fans who make the franchise a hit and they want good content that aligns with the source material. After Echo’s disastrous reviews, Disney and Marvel are reportedly bringing back Foggy and Karen Page into the Daredevil fold in the upcoming series for Disney. This has excited fans beyond imagination. Many other supporting cast members will be joining Charlie Cox in the series.

Along with the central protagonist and antagonist Daredevil and Kingpin, the Disney show will also feature Foggy and Karen Page, hence completing the original cast of the show including Jon Bernthal. The latest series comes after Daredevil’s three-season run on Netflix that was eventually cancelled, upsetting fans. The superhero has been seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, therefore becoming a part of the MCU.

Fans are over the moon to know this since they were heartbroken over the duo’s supposed death at the end of the Netflix series. Now, social media has been swarmed with positive comments and kudos to Marvel for finally doing right by Daredevil’s story since the hero has been overlooked.

The comments range from celebrating a win for the entire fandom to someone saying, “Major Win!! I’m so happy they took the time to rewrite and include them!!”

Echo Amasses Bad Reviews

Echo

The show Echo claims a hard-hitting bloodbath in the story with violence and a more hero-led story. It combines two facets of the titular hero seeking revenge on her enemy along with exploring her disability and her ethnicity. To this effect, the show could not do justice to each facet. The series review by the https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/11/arts/television/echo-review.htmlNew York Times read,

“Within the five relatively short episodes of “Echo” it sets up a tug of war between an action-thriller imperative and a cultural-historical imperative that ends up as a losing battle for both sides. The show’s writers, including the creator and showrunner, Marion Dayre, have failed to braid the two strands in interesting or dramatic ways. (It’s not a good sign that each episode lists from three to seven writing credits.) Instead, what could be — and occasionally is — an entertaining Southwestern noir has its energy sapped by the intrusion of Choctaw history and myth, while the history and myth are devalued by being put at the service of what is mostly a formulaic thriller.”

Now, the fans seem satiated with bringing back iconic characters who actually made the show successful. Moreover, Jonathan Majors’ case also complicated the situation for folks at Disney and Marvel, but they seem to be prepared to change the story and bring another strong villain to fill Kang’s shoes.
