Songwriter and record executive Benny Blanco has often made headlines for his work. However, recently, he has been making more of those due to his relationship with popular singer-songwriter Selena Gomez. The news of their dating had taken some by surprise because they have been longtime collaborators, but this is the first time they have been linked romantically.
Blanco’s relationship with Gomez has been a topic of public discussion and the Hands to Myself singer’s previous relationship with Justin Bieber also comes up sometimes. The Friends Keep Secrets label founder was recently asked about his plan to have kids and his answer is making fans believe it was not the best time considering Bieber’s revelation.
Benny Blanco Has a Very Clear Answer When It Comes to Having Kids
Benny Blanco began his career as a professional songwriter under songwriter and producer Dr. Luke’s mentorship. In 2011, his work on Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger, made him a collaborator on the artist’s album Overexposed and its lead single Payphone, featuring Wiz Khalifa.
Since then, he has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry such as Halsey, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, and BTS among others. In 2017, he won the Producer of the Year award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The following year, he released his debut studio album Friends Keep Secrets to modest success.
In December 2023, Selena Gomez went on a commenting spree on a now-deleted Instagram post during which she revealed that she had been dating Blanco for six months at the time she wrote the comment (via Billboard). Then, she proceeded to share a picture that seemed to be of her and Blanco on her Instagram story.
Since the couple went public, they are often asked about each other in interviews. In one such interview on The Howard Stern Show, when Blanco was asked about his thoughts on becoming a father, he said:
“That’s my next goal, to check the box. I have a ton of god kids; I’ve got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids.”
When Stern asked the music producer if he wanted to have kids with the Calm Down singer and if he had talked to her about it, Blanco replied that it is always a topic of conversation.

Gomez’s dating history with Bieber goes back to when they were teenagers. They had an on-again and off-again relationship which permanently ended in 2018. Following this, the Candian singer moved on with model Hailey Baldwin and even got married soon. Recently, he made an announcement on Instagram that the couple was expecting.
Blanco speaking of having kids with Gomez has triggered some fans into believing that the I Found You singer might not have chosen the best time to say this, and some others have pointed out that he chose to say this after Bieber’s announcement. Here is what some of them have said:
