The show revolves around the fictional character Barry Allen a version of the DC Comics character Flash, a superhero crime-fighter with incredible superhuman speeds.

In 2021, Deadline reported that one of the show’s prominent stars Carlos Valdes who was the arc on the series would be exiting the show after portraying his iconic role in its seven seasons.

According to recent reports, Carlos Valdes will not be returning in The Flash series finale due to his prior work commitments. The show’s finale will reunite all the prominent cast members who have led the series since its first season, which premiered on October 7, 2014. In the latest tell-all interview, the Legends of Tomorrow star explains why he will not return for The Flash’s season finale.

Valdes told EW,

“I did consider it. Honestly, there was no way to make it happen with regards to my schedule and just all the different creative ventures and life circumstances that I was trying to juggle at that time.” 

The actor claimed he was working on Hulu’s romantic comedy Up Here during the production of The Flash’s final season. The Gaslit star said,

“I couldn’t really make it work, which was really heartbreaking to me because I thought, if I decided to step away from the show, at the very least, I have to be there for the finale to round this thing out and to really honor the full circle-ness of it. It was really heartbreaking to not be able to make it work.”

While his other work commitments became the sole barriers for the actor, and he confirmed that he would not be reprising his role in the show’s finales, his fans are particularly disappointed with the news. Read fans’ tweets here.

Carlos Valdes admitted that leaving the show after seven years was the hardest decision. He said,

“I really did feel like a heavy tug inside me of just fan service and really trying to honor the show by sticking with it and seeing it through. But ultimately, I had to do what was best for me and my mental health. Even though it was a really tough decision for me, you have one life to live. Life is too short. I have to keep moving. So I really had to follow my personal compass on that one.”

The Flash‘s final season will premiere on May 24, 2023, on The CW.
