Not that anyone would dare doubt the twists and turns possible in the MCU, but fans are always theorizing and speculating things. One such instance has been the discourse of bringing back Iron Man. And it is quite polarizing, to say the least.
While missing Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark is a unanimous feeling in the fandom, his death in Avengers: Endgame has brought closure to his arc and some would prefer Iron Man not return. While some, on the contrary, think that Iron Man can never not enhance the MCU.
Amidst this heated debate, a fan theory has emerged which might just be the perfect solution.
Here’s How Tony Stark Can Return to the MCU
Fan theories influencing storylines are not an unheard concept. And the wizardry Marvel fans show with speculations and possibilities is unparalleled.
Iron Man sacrificing himself to save the world and his friends from Thanos is easily one of the biggest moments in Marvel history. The impact could be felt by the Avengers and the fans alike till much later. Robert Downey Jr. was the soul of MCU and made the Avengers what they are. It is safe to say that his presence on the screen is widely missed.
One fan theory on Reddit suggests a genius way of bringing Iron Man back to the MCU without nullifying the past occurrence or disregarding the sacrifice.
As per the theory, which was actually posted before Endgame, Iron Man could have programmed an AI in his image prior to his death, which could have been used by his protégé Peter Parker, who donned the Stark-made suit.
Explaining the theory, the fan said on Reddit:
“This way Tony could still be a central father figure and mentor to Peter, all while taking a back seat to the future MCU while still being important. In the past movies, there has definitely been a deep connection between the two characters, and this happening in the future just really makes sense to me.”
Not only will this make a killer storyline, but will serve as a great reminder of the intelligence Stark possessed.
Will Iron Man Come Back from the Dead?
There was a long-suffering groan in cinema halls as the fans watched their most beloved Marvel superhero die on the screen. MCU, quite literally, has never been the same since.
The new lineup of the MCU seems very promising with the twists and turns it will bring. The gates to the Multiverse being open have brought in some spectacular crossovers. And the return of Iron Man does not sound like an unattainable concept.
It should be noted that it is highly unlikely that Iron Man’s comeback will be announced beforehand, should something like that actually materialize. But when and if it will happen, cannot be said.
