“Ryan did not suffer any kind of stroke”: ‘Live’ Star Ryan Seacrest Terrified Fans With Medical Scare After He Spontaneously Started Slurring His Speech, Was Forced to Do Damage Control
Ryan Seacrest is one of the busiest media personalities in the entertainment industry. Having years of experience, he has continued to work hard and juggled between his gigs to give his best. However, his hard work and not resting enough were what made fans worried about him. There was a time when he terrified fans with a medical scare while hosting the finale of American Idol.
While the American personality has left Live! which he co-hosted alongside Kelly Ripa, many seemed to be concerned about his health which has been noticed over the years. However, nothing could bother the fans like the 2020 on-air show when fans noticed something off about him.
Ryan Seacrest Reportedly Suffered from a Stroke On-Air Back in 2020
The 48-year-old TV host, Ryan Seacrest made headlines in 2020 when he was hosting American Idol‘s live remote finale. Towards the end of the show, he was seen reportedly having a stroke as he spontaneously started slurring his speech. Not just that, his left eye was closed halfway, unlike the right one.
This medical scare was enough to make fans worry about him, who took to social media platforms to share their concern about him. While many were convinced that he may have dealt with some kind of neurological episode, his rep told PEOPLE that this was not the case.
The rep shared in a statement,
“Ryan did not have any kind of stroke last night.”
They continued,
“Between Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he has been juggling three-four on-air jobs over the last few weeks and he’s in need of rest.”
While the rep shared that nothing serious was going on with him, he was absent for several weeks from Live with Kelly and Ryan at the time.
Ryan Seacrest Addressed The On-Air Medical Scare
In a WSJ interview, he opened up about being extremely tired due to his packed schedule at the time.
“I was absolutely beat and fatigued and just wasn’t letting myself accept that. Now I do.”
He knew that he “needed to slow down… I just had burnt myself out.”
Even an insider informed that the producer used to be pretty exhausted and even missed several episodes in the last six months of Live! It is only because of his hectic schedule which “created tension with everyone involved on the show.”
However, everyone on the set cared about him and “just wants to make sure he’s OK.”
He announced his departure from Live! earlier this month, adding that he will be appearing as a guest co-host on a fill-in basis. Meanwhile, Mark Consuelos is the new co-host replacing the former.
