Both on-screen and off-screen, Jackman and Reynolds keep teasing each other about something or the other. Back in 2022, Reynolds and Jackman left fans worldwide clamoring over their announcement of their collaboration for a new Deadpool movie (via VancityReynolds on X). It was a dream come true for not just those involved and devout fans of the ground-breaking duo, but also MCU die-hards, Wolverine and Deadpool’s solo die-hards, and everyone in between.

The movie has finally hit the screens recently and it seems unlikely that anyone is going to stop talking about it anytime soon. This is more so because Reynolds and Jackman have some of the best ways to keep the conversation alive and their most recent antic is to take a dig at Marlon Brando’s method acting technique for The Godfather.

The Green Lantern actor has posted a video in which Wolverine can be seen using a cue card hanging from Deadpool’s neck to say the dialogue in a scene. Alongside the video, he posted a collage of a snapshot of Brando using the “idiot card” technique on the set of Francis Ford Coppola’s Oscar-winning flick and another one of Wolverine using a similar technique for the new movie.

The Les Miserables actor has also replied to the post stating that Reynolds made him an offer. The fans are well aware of just how hard it is for Jackman to refuse an offer from his best friend so it is no surprise that he accepted it.

What Was the Reason Behind Marlon Brando Using “idiot cards” for The Godfather?

Marlon Brando is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors of his generation. However, a bad reputation marred his remarkable acting career later in his life. One of the incidents that led to this was when he demanded to use cue cards for his role in The Godfather (via Slash Film).

While many have alleged that this was laziness, Brando had insisted that it was for the sole purpose of naturalism. That, however, did not help in evading the nasty term “idiot cards” for the visual prompts and even the controversy that came with it.

The thing is that the A Streetcar Named Desire star was a devotee of the Stanislavski Method, which favors naturalistic performances over recital of dialogue from memory. Marlon was far from dumb so using the “idiot cards” might have been for reasons that we may or may not know. Regardless, his performance in The Godfather remains one of the best in the history of cinema.
