Marvel must be sighing a breath of relief as Deadpool & Wolverine achieved everything it set out to do. From welcoming the ostracized mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe to establishing a connection between the Time Variance Authority and various timelines, the show acted as a bridge between the past and the future, paving the way for more interesting narratives to follow.

With the way Deadpool & Wolverine’s performance was progressing, this comes as no surprise that it has made its way to the top five comic book movies ever made. A nostalgia-fest through and through, the movie took fans on a multiversal road trip which included surprising cameos, splendid twists and turns, and most importantly, the highly anticipated bromance between the two lead characters.

What’s more, Deadpool & Wolverine has surpassed The Avengers to claim this feat. Interestingly, we see a callback to the 2012 blockbuster in Deadpool & Wolverine too. After everything is done and dusted, both mutant superheroes make their way to a nearby shop to get something to eat. Lo and behold, they find a shawarma restaurant still open, so Deadpool and Wolverine devour the meal as they talk about their future.

The Avengers also features a similar scene when in the end, all the six main superheroes sit at a restaurant and enjoy a shawarma meal together in silence. They are visibly tired and exhausted after the fight, but relieved to have made it out alive.

Ryan Reynolds couldn’t help but share the happy news of his movie clinching another record on X. Known for his witty antics, he captioned the post, “Shawarmas for everyone.” This once again hinted at the fact that the Deadpool & Wolverine scene was intentionally shot to pay homage to the main Avengers, as that’s where it all started. Marvel has come a long way since then.
