Saga of Tanya the Evil is finally back after more than seven years. The second season of the anime itself started airing on July 8, 2026, as part of the Summer 2026 Crunchyroll lineup, and we’re finally seeing Tanya being one of the most evil protagonists ever once again.
Considering how long it has been, even the most hardcore fans have a lot of questions. Let’s dive into everything that we know about this sequel, from how many episodes it’s going to have, where the story will pick up after the 2019 movie, and what arcs are left to be adapted from the anime.
How Many Episodes Does Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 Have?

Season 2 is confirmed to run for 12 episodes (as per the official anime website), following the same single-cour format as the first season. That means that the season will have a standard summer season length and there won’t be any surprise extensions.
However, if the standard 12 episodes are not enough for you, Studio Nut is making bonus content as well. There is a mini-anime that is released along with the main anime, which offers more comedic relief content away from all the war. The art style of this mini-series resembled the anime Isekai Quartet a lot, where the characters from Saga of Tanya the Evil also appear.
At one episode per week, the season is projected to wrap up in late September 2026, so if you’re planning your watch schedule, you’ve got a solid two and a half months of new Tanya content ahead of you.
Where Does Season 2 Pick Up in the Story?

A note to be made here is that there is a movie before Season 2, so make sure you’ve seen that movie before you move further into Season 2. As for the actual plot, the second season opens in the Autumn of Unified Calendar Year 1926, with Lt. Colonel Tanya now commanding Kampfgruppe Salamander, a mobile strike unit pulled from her 203rd Aerial Mage Battalion, reassigned from the Rhine front to the eastern campaign against the Federation.
The Rhine skirmishes had the feel of aggressive maneuver warfare with clear objectives, while the eastern front is a whole different beast defined by attrition, cold, and sheer distance. Simply speaking, Tanya’s dream of a chill life in a big house where she has to do nothing is nowhere near.
Which Manga/Light Novel Arcs Will Season 2 Likely Adapt?
Season 1 covered roughly Volumes 1 through 3 of the light novels, and the 2019 film bridged parts of Volume 4. Based on that pacing, Season 2 is expected to adapt Volumes 4 through 6 or 7, depending on how the episode count and pacing decisions shake out.
That lines up pretty well with the Eastern Front setup we just mentioned, since that’s where the story goes deeper into full-scale war territory instead of the more contained conflicts that we saw in the first season.
How Much Story Is Left After Season 2 Ends?

The light novel has 14 volumes published in Japan, and since there wasn’t any anime in the franchise for about 7 years, we’ve only scratched the surface with anime. Even if Season 2 adapts Volume 7 completely, there would still be a lot of material left to adapt. However, this also means that if the anime is performing well, we may get the third season confirmation as soon as season 2 ends.
For English readers keeping up, Yen Press’s English edition is currently publishing up to Volume 11, with Volume 12 due out in May 2026, so international fans actually have plenty of reading material to bridge the gap if a Season 3 takes a while to get greenlit.
Where to Watch Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2

The good news is that this anime is really easy to access. Crunchyroll is streaming Season 2 globally, with distribution across North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS region (as per Crunchyroll Summer 2026 Lineup). In Asian regions, Ani-One Asia is also handling licensing and distribution in select territories.
If you’re new to the franchise or need a refresher, Season 1 and the 2019 film are both available on Crunchyroll as well, so you can binge everything on one platform before jumping into the new episodes.
