American actor and producer Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most recognized actors of his generation, particularly for appearing as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is one of the highest-grossing actors with the movies he has appeared in having earned a combined total of $27 billion.

Apart from appearing in 11 MCU movies between 2008 and 2021, Jackson has also starred in the Star Wars prequel trilogy from 1999 to 2005. He began his acting career in 1972 with roles in theatre plays and even appeared in the independent film Together for Days in the same year. He rose to international recognition with his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. He was overjoyed to find out that the character was specially written for him.

Samuel L. Jackson is A Gem of An Actor 

Samuel L. Jackson has starred in an uncountable number of box office hits. Despite having a major setback due to his battle with drugs which led to a lack of emotional integrity in the roles Jackson played, he soon made a comeback in his long-time friend, director Spike Lee’s 1991 movie, Jungle Fever. He was cast as a drug addict in the movie and his performance was so phenomenal that the 1991 Cannes Film Festival especially added an award for ‘Supporting Actor’ for him.

Jackson was so keen to be in a Star Wars movie that he didn’t even read the script or know which character he is playing until he was fitted in a costume for Mace Windu. He has also starred alongside action star Bruce Willis in some films including the third installment of Die Hard. In 2002, Marvel Comics was given permission to design Nick Fury’s character based on Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance, and thus came along the Glass actor’s most famous and long-running character.

Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman has charmed millions with her acting in The Crown, The Father, The Favourite, and The Lost Daughter. Samuel L. Jackson also happens to be one of these millions as he claimed to be a fan of her after watching Broadchurch. Getting to work with Colman, who is playing the character of Sonya Falsworth in Marvel’s Secret Invasion has Jackson elated, as he commented:

“I thought, ‘How lucky can I be to know that today is finally going to be the day I get to act with Olivia Colman?’”

The feeling is mutual because the Fleabag actress was just as excited about getting to work with the Marvel star. She couldn’t stop herself from appreciating his outgoing nature and the duo quickly became friends. The only complaint Colman has is that she doesn’t get to have any superpowers despite being a part of Marvel, which the studio might have tried to compensate with cool trainers.
