Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson Rank at Top in Disturbing Deepfake Videos That Might Ruin Actresses’ Career
The lives of celebrities like Emma Watson and Scarlett Johansson are not easy at all. They need to exercise a lot of restraint in their life; especially in the public eye. Every action of theirs is subject to immense scrutiny. Who knows what will get them embroiled in their next controversy? That is all part and parcel of the life of a star. But what if the controversy is not because of any fault of their own? A host of actresses, including the likes of Emma Watson and Scarlett Johansson find themselves caught in a deepfake scandal.
A scandal to be forgotten for Emma Watson and Scarlett Johansson
It seems like there is a new website on the horizon, a new NSFW website that is. It has come to light that there is an adult film website out there that has carved out its name in a specific niche – deepfake p*rn.
In a report for NBC News, it was outed that there is a “predatory” deepfake adult film website out there, one which consists of videos of top models and movie stars, Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson being the most popular celebrities out there.
The menace of deepfake p*rn
The menace of deepfakes is more serious than it is presumed to be. In the NBC report, it was mentioned that 96 percent of deepfakes are sexually explicit and created without the consent of the person featured.
Legal professionals like Noelle Martin have called the website out, labeling it “not as a p*rn site”, but instead calling it “predatory“. He continued,
“[It] doesn’t rely on the consent of the people on the actual website. The fact that it’s even allowed to operate and is known is a complete indictment of every regulator in the space, of all law enforcement, of the entire system, that this is even allowed to exist.”
He advocated vociferously for the menace to come to an end.
Emma Watson and Scarlett Johansson are at the top of the list
The Perks of Being a Wallpaper star and the Jojo Rabbit star are two of the most famous celebrities on these platforms. The horrifying truth regarding the site came to light after the Harry Potter star’s photo was spotted in an ad for a face-swap app. Twitterati attacked the deepfake technology, calling it harmful to teenagers as well.
The sad fact is that deepfake technology lies in a legally grey area, as they are not entirely illegal. Cybersecurity expert Adam Levin said
“as long as every party involved is a legal adult, there aren’t very many laws on the books to prevent or punish the distribution of illicit content.”
Seems like the road ahead is indeed perilous.
