Scream 2022: First Trailer Released
The first trailer for Scream 2022 has been out, with Ghostface, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox returning to the horror genre.
Trailer’s Release Date
The Scream trailer’s release date was first disclosed on social media by newcomer Jack Quaid. “Everyone, rejoice! The [Scream] trailer will be released TOMORROW!” Quaid posted on Instagram on October 10th.
Tyler Gillet, co-director of 2022’s Scream, previously detailed how the film was created before any of the franchise’s mainstays agreed to return. On Scream, Gillet is joined by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, his Ready or Not co-director, while the script is written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Castle Rock). This is the first film in the Scream franchise to be directed by someone other than Wes Craven, who died in 2015 after directing the first four films.
The Trailer
The clip begins with a girl receiving a frightening call from the Ghostface killer, which is a typical Scream cliche. The masked murderer then attacks her and drags her away, before the video switches to Dewey calling Sidney to inform her that the killings have resumed. Sidney, Dewey, and Gale try to guide a new group of teenagers (all of whom have ties to previous Ghostface killers) through the perilous scenario. Ghostface tells Sidney that it’s an honour to meet her towards the end of the trailer.
Days before the trailer was published, David Arquette revealed a new Scream poster featuring Ghostface. Arquette captioned the poster, “It’s Always Someone You Know.” Quaid, Jenna Ortega as Tara, Melissa Barrera as Sam, Scream 4 alum Marley Shelton as Judy Hicks, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, Dylan Minnette as Wes, Mikey Madison as Amber, Mason Gooding as Chad, Sonia Ammar as Liv, and Kyle Gallner as Vince was featured in the first official pictures from Scream.
Scream will be released in theatres on January 14, 2022.
