Sebastian Stan recalls his encounter with Steven Spielberg at the Academy Gala 2024
Actor Sebastian Stan is known for playing The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Stan recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the host did not make him forget the spectacular movies he has been a part of, including his performance. Jimmy Fallon asked Stan if he liked getting awards, to which he said,
Fallon then went ahead to ask the actor if he gets nervous, to which Stan said that he does get nervous, and sometimes when they are lucky, the actors just pass each other at an event. Stan shared with Jimmy Fallon that while he was at the Academy Gala, he ran into Steven Spielberg, who came up to him and told him,
A Different Man holds a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas The Apprentice holds 83%. Now, it’s interesting because while Bucky Barnes in the MCU was simply a supporting character, Stan’s choice of movies after Avengers: Endgame has been marvelous. The same couldn’t be said for Chris Evans, who played Captain America in Marvel movies. Evans has had a string of underwhelming movies.
Evans has been a part of The Gray Man, Ghosted, and The Red Sea Diving Resort, which unfortunately failed to draw people’s attention. The movies saw a little success when streamed on an OTT platform. Fans have mentioned that Evans’ choice of projects lately has just been on commercial visibility rather than something that challenges his skills.
The actor speaking on The View had shared why he has lately preferred to take up less demanding roles. He said,
Where Sebastian Stan has taken up roles that have challenged him as an actor and given him a chance to come out of the shell of being a supporting actor in a movie, Evans’ career has taken a slump. However, fans believe that it’s going to end soon because Chris Evans is a brilliant actor, and his potential is not going to go to waste. (via Insider Fandom)
Evans also recently commented on Spielberg’s comments about superhero movies. The actor said that for any film that can incorporate these larger-than-life characters and fantastical locations and plots, technology wants to prove that it can do it. (Via Games Radar)
Sebastian Stan reveals the reason he’s not on Variety’s Actors on Actors
Stan’s recently released movies, along with the trailer for the upcoming Thunderbolts*, clearly show that he is a wonderful actor and knows the material he has signed up for. Every year, fans are excited for the lineup of Variety’s Actors on Actors video series, and this year everyone had expected Stan to be there as well.
But Sebastian Stan went on to reveal during a screening in Los Angeles that he is not going to be a part of Variety’s Actors on Actors, the reason being simple: other stars who are taking part in the video series have refused to team up with him. He said,
He continued that the actors were too afraid to go and talk about The Apprentice, which is why he won’t be able to take part in the series. He mentioned that they couldn’t get past the publicist or the people representing Trump because they were too afraid to talk about this movie. He added that when people start to lose the situation, it’s when the problem starts.
The actor also asked the audience why they shouldn’t get a chance to take a close look at his life and understand what it is about Trump that is driving that. He also clarified that it does not bother him much adding that he has got to do more great things.
The Apprentice is available to stream on Prime Video.
