A source told Us that the two had been speaking for months before actually coming together. The insider also confirmed that there was something between the two. The insider said, “Pete makes Emily laugh and he loves how intelligent she is.” A source exclusively told Us,
“There’s no intensity or over-expectation on either side, just a lot of fun and a chance to cut loose and see where it leads.”
The source continued,
“There’s no doubt Pete loves a challenge and he’s certainly met his intellectual match in Emily.”
But after it all went down between them, a source close to Hollywood Life might know the reason behind their breakup. In the end, it seems like the non-exclusivity seems to have gotten to one of them. Seeing the Gone Girl actor with other people turned out to be Davidson’s Achilles’ heel.

The source said,
“Pete was down to take things casually until he realized that Emily’s head was in an entirely different place than his with this. Seeing Emily out with other men did get to him, but he knew that it shouldn’t because he was not her boyfriend.”
Both were in “a different headspace“, differences which eventually cost them their relationship.
But it is notable that there is no bad blood between the two. The 29-year-old coped with the split just fine, as their relationship was never that serious. Given their respect for each other, they will remain friends.
