“She didn’t get any of Kanye’s talents”: North West’s The Lion King Performance Faces The Same Harsh Criticism That’s Followed Kim Kardashian and Her Family for Decades
North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, is the eldest of the four children the former couple share. Despite their messy divorce, the former couple has always shown up for their kids as a united front. They have always tried to cheer and support their kids in their respective interested areas.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release, Disney honored the popular animated movie The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. A special screening was held, and North West got to be a part of it with a very special performance, making her Hollywood debut. Fans were not thrilled with her performance and didn’t leave a chance to point out that the opportunity she got was because of her parents.

Beauty mogul Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West’s eldest daughter have risen to fame with her TikToks and her performances with West. She not only featured on his Vultures album but also stole the show during the listening party back in December.
But making her debut, North West dressed up as a young lion and performed I Just Can’t Wait to Be King on-stage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The occasion was the celebration of 30 years since The Lion King’s release, and original singer Jason Weaver introduced the young singer by stating that it was her Hollywood debut.
Both Kardashian and West were seen supporting their daughter from the audience. Their family members, including Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, and Travis Barker, along with her siblings, were also spotted cheering and supporting her.
Other cast members include Billy Eichner, Jason Weaver, Nathan Lane, Jennifer Hudson, and more. Variety had reported that a full orchestra was set to perform Hans Zimmer’s Academy Award-winning musical score with songs including Hakuna Matata, Circle of Life, Be Prepared, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
US Weekly reported that young West was nervous to perform but confident and looked happy once she performed her solo. A video went viral as a source shared (Via Yahoo!),
She seemed to be having fun and trying her best. She never forgot the words and danced all around the stage. She looked happy and was always smiling.
The source also added that as soon as the eldest daughter appeared on stage, Kanye West took out his phone to film her and gave her a standing ovation. They noted that she has a good voice and will be a good singer. She was happy and seemed like she didn’t want the night to end.

Despite the good response to her performance at Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary: A Live-to-Film Concert Event, some fans and critics seemed to have based the performance on the performance on North West’s singing skills. Someone mentioned, ‘She didn’t get any of Kanye’s talents from the gene pool, but thankfully she has Kris Jenner to keep her booked and busy,’ another one stated, ‘She inherited her mother’s sense of rhythm and singing talent.’
A user wrote, ‘It’s giving school recital’, while another one wrote, ‘Everyone else in full costume and she in swaggy Yeezy fit smh not even ears’. The discussion of Nepo Kids was once again brought back, and a user commented,’I know the staff was actually mad about this’. A lot of users online shared that nobody wants this.

An X user commented that she cannot sing or dance but gets this, with additional comments reminding everyone that she only got the part because of her parents. Viewers were not at all thrilled with her singing or dancing skills and advised the parents to maybe get her some vocal lessons. A user also said that it’s bad how much they dislike the 10-year-old kid because of her parents. They pointed out that North West’s spoilt-brat attitude is because of her parents.

Ahead of the show, Kardashian took to her social media to share pictures of her bouquets sent to the young West from her grandmother and great-grandmother to wish her all the best. West is reportedly working on her own album and it’s titled, ‘Elementary School Dropout’.
