You may already be aware of the Oscars 2022 viral slap. Following Chris Rock’s offensive joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair, which many people found to be offensive, Will Smith entered the stage and delivered a loud slap to Rock that was live broadcast on television to millions of viewers. Many people, including A-listers, have voiced their opinions about what happened.

Like many others, Canadian-American actor, Jim Carrey disliked Smith’s act at the Awards night. And he didn’t hold anything back. Carrey expressed his feelings about Smith slapping Rock in a 2022 appearance on CBS Mornings. In addition, he was critical of the Oscars audience for their response to the incident.

But later, James Eugene Carrey himself received criticism when the two videos of him “forcibly kissing” Alicia Silverstone at an awards ceremony (1997) surfaced after he had criticized the Aladdin actor for the Oscars slap.

Jim Carrey slammed for ‘forcibly kissing’ Alicia Silverstone after criticizing Will Smith

He was caught on camera in two 1997 videos “s*xually assaulting” Alicia Silverstone, then 20, at an awards ceremony after criticizing Will Smith for the Oscars slap. Jim Carrey, now 61, was indignantly critical of Hollywood for applauding Smith for winning Best Actor just moments after he had slapped Chris Rock on stage in response to a joke he made about his wife.

In his video clips, he can be seen grabbing Silverstone and kissing her on her lips as he accepted the Best Comedic Performance trophy at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards. At the time, Carrey received an award for his movie The Cable Guy from the actress, who was 20.

As a result of The Mask actor’s comments that Smith ought to have been arrested for slapping Rock at the Oscars, social media trolls have called him a “hypocrite.” Canadian-American actor, comedian, and artist has come under fire from many, with one commenter calling him “the guy who s*xually assaulted Alison Silverstone on stage.”

Another said, “Jim Carrey was 35 while Alicia Silverstone was 19 years old. Don’t talk about a situation on so-called assault about will when you sexually assaulted Alicia. Look at her reaction after he did it, she looks SO disgusted!.”’

Jim Carrey was ‘sickened’ by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock

Jim Carrey spoke against Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during an appearance on CBS Mornings last year. In addition, he was also critical of the Oscars audience for their response to the incident. His words are as follows,

“I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation. I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse. And it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore.”

Although it might seem like he was demonizing the Suicide Squad actor for this act, he also has some complimentary things to say about the King Richard Oscar winner. He believed that Smith’s slap at Chris Rock was unjustified and that the audience’s reaction was “spineless.” He thought there were some internal issues that led him to slap Rock.
