Weeks before the late Queen of England’s death, She had struck a friendship with Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise. According to a source, Queen Elizabeth II had been eager to meet Cruise as he was one of the invitees to the ‘Platinum Jubilee celebration’ for the Queen. And reportedly, the Top Gun actor could not make it to the event. It left the late royal monarch extremely disappointed. She had been looking forward to meeting Cruise according to several reports.

Later Tom Cruise was invited to Windsor Castle by the late Queen for tea. Reports reveal that the Mission Impossible actor was treated as a very special guest. And both of them had struck up a friendship according to a source.

In the earlier weeks before her death, the late monarch celebrated her 70th year on the throne. One of the invitees to the Platinum Jubilee celebration had been the Hollywood A-lister Tom cruise. The Top Gun actor had been scheduled to meet with the late Queen Elizabeth II at the castle ground for the event. But unfortunately, Cruise did not make it to the event which took place in May. And according to The Sunday Times, a source reported that the late monarch was left disappointed as she had been especially looking forward to meeting Cruise. The source said,

“The Queen let it be known that she was really disappointed not to have met Tom at the pageant, so he was invited to have a special tour of Windsor Castle with everything laid on for him. Afterwards, just the two of them had tea together,”

The same source also reported that after meeting with each other later over tea, the two really “hit it off”. They seem to have struck up a friendship and got along really well. A report in the Daily Mail, tells that the late Queen Elizabeth II “loved seeing him”. Also, the budding friendship was not surprising as Cruise himself praised the late Queen in an interview. He had said referring to Queen Elizabeth,

Their mutual admiration for each other helped the two strike up a friendship easily.

The absence of Top Gun: Maverick actor at the Platinum Jubilee Celebration event, left the queen disappointed. Therefore to cover his absence he was invited once again to the royal Queen’s residence. According to reports, the Queen was pleased to have him and Cruise was treated as a very special guest.

First of all the Mission Impossible actor was given a special tour of Windsor Castle. Sources told The Daily Mail that “Everything had been laid out for him”. Tom Cruise was even allowed to land his helicopter on the castle ground. Later the special guest and the late monarch had tea together. And afterward, it seemed that the two had struck up a friendship. The visit by Tom Cruise is said to be a success as he was given a chance to fire a ‘Ceremonial Gun’.

And to top it all off, the Hollywood hunk was invited back for a lunch. Unfortunately, the budding friendship could not last as the monarch died of a natural cause (old age) before their second meet-up for lunch.
