Ridley Scott wishes to work with Paul Mescal’s Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar Jones
During a recent interview with Cinema Blend, filmmaker Ridley Scott was asked if he has thought about working with Paul Mescal’s Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar Jones. To this, the director said that he has thought about it and would love to work with the actress. He added,
Paul Mescal added that, according to him, the two of them would work very well together. Debra Winger is regarded as one of the significant actresses of her generation who starred in movies including An Officer and a Gentleman, Shadowlands, and Terms of Endearment, which earned her an Academy Award nomination.
The actress made her Broadway debut in the original production of David Mamet’s play The Anarchist. She has also starred in Ashton Kutcher’s starrer Netflix series The Ranch. Her work in A Dangerous Woman as Martha—an emotionally stunted young woman who triggers a series of violent and sexual catastrophes—received praise from critics and the audience at the time.
The New York Times reported that the actress was very well aware that her reputation in the industry was of someone who is outspoken and stubborn. The publication mentioned that when she was getting offers, she often thought about overstaying her welcome in the industry. Winger was known to be not only one of the most gorgeous actresses in the industry, but also someone who was never afraid to speak her heart out.
Winger shared with People that she never turned her back on the industry, but simply pushed a pause button because nothing interesting was coming her way. She focused on her marriage and raising her kids at the time and returned on-screen with 2001’s Big Bad Love. The actress mentioned turning back to acting was much harder than leaving, but she does not regret making that choice.
Ridley Scott comparing Daisy Edgar-Jones to Debra Winger is still a compliment to her because Winger was respected and admired despite her controversial status of being outspoken. Jones is a beautiful actress who surely will do wonders if working with Scott.
