Angelica Ross is a prominent trans actress who is known for her roles in Pose and American Horror Story. Besides acting she is recognized for her work in advocating LGBTQ rights and the challenges faced by the transgender community. Recently, the actress has revealed a deeply heartbreaking experience she had with her co-star Emma Roberts on the set of American Horror Story: 1984.

Popular Actress Angelica Ross accused her co-actor Emma Roberts of misgendering on the set of American Horror Story. The actress revealed her tragic experience through an Instagram live post (reposted by fans in X), alleging that Roberts intentionally misgendered her.

Detailing the incident, Roberts was standing in front of Ross when she playfully said to the director, John J. Gray, that “‘Angelica’s being mean”. Gray intervened and instructed, saying, “OK, ladies, that’s enough; let’s get back to work.”  According to Ross, Roberts turned to Ross and said, “Don’t you mean lady?’ while covering her mouth. Ross being transgender felt so hurt and humiliated by Roberts’ comment.

Ross in her post, expressed how the incident deeply made her upset and left her blood “boiling.” She initially decided not to react to Roberts due to concerns about the repercussions faced by the others who have done so. Ross went on to describe that Roberts seemed preoccupied with her appearance and turned away from her to face the camera.

“I’m looking at her dead-ass in the camera, like, ‘What the f— did you just say? I’m trying to process what the f— she just said. I’m standing there, and she walks away. My blood is boiling. Boiling, because I’m like, if I say something, it’s going to be me; that’s the problem. And I know this because there was someone who spoke up about what she was doing, and they got repercussions from that.”

In the following interaction, Ross avoided speaking to Roberts, even though they continued filming togetherRoss added that Roberts seemed to sense the tension and asked Ross if she was okay.

Angelica Ross acknowledges Emma Roberts’ apology on Twitter

Soon after Ross made her revelation, actress Emma Roberts apologized to Ross for misgendering her on the set of American Horror Story: 1984 as the Pose star publicly acknowledged the apology and expressed her gratitude through a Tweet:

Despite her grievances, Ross emphasized that she didn’t want her followers to engage in bullying or making threats towards Roberts.

Ross and Roberts appeared in American Horror Story: 1984, which is the ninth season of the anthology horror tale American Horror Story and is set in the 1980s at a summer camp that becomes the site of grisly murders. Emma Roberts played one of the main characters, Brooke Thompson, in the season.

She added that, at the age of 17, she revealed to her mother her identity. Her mother, who was a devout Christian, was hesitant to accept her and would say rude things to her like,
“I should commit suicide, or she would, because she couldn’t have someone like me as her child”. Faced with a harsh reaction, Ross found herself in despair and contemplated ending her life.
Even when Ross reached the age of 19, she was thrown out of her house when she began her gender transition journey. Later, Ross pursued her passion for acting. Despite her challenges, Ross rose to be a successful figure in the industry with more than 20 films and TV shows. She is also currently serving as the CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, a firm that helps transgender people find employment in the tech industry.
