Meghan Markle and the British royal family have indirectly been at each other’s throats for years now. Soon after the Suits alum tied the knot with Prince Harry, reports of some skirmishes from the palace started flying. The matter took a grave turn when the duke and duchess of Sussex left the royal family in 2020 and moved to the US. It was quite a shock for the world and people started taking sides, the royal enthusiasts finding Markle to be the villain and vice versa. Several reports and books have been written by royal experts on this subject and one such book makes quite a shocking claim.
Royal author makes shocking claims about Meghan Markle
Royal biographer Tom Bower alleged that Meghan Markle might have married Prince Harry for his money, which is not as much as she had first expected. He revealed the claims on GB News in conversation with the host Dan Wootton. He went on to say,
“(Meghan) is money obsessed and always has been and that is why she married Prince Harry. Her great surprise and disappointment was that Prince Harry had very little money. She’d imagined he’d be worth hundreds of millions if not billions and she’s having to make up for it now.”
He then went on to claim that the Dater’s Handbook actor desired a certain luxurious lifestyle which she is unable to get with ease at the moment.
He said,
“She wants to ride in the big Cadillacs, the private jets on command. At the moment she needs to scrounge for those sorts of things.”
The royal author had also expressed similar thoughts in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, which was published in 2022. He wrote in the international best-seller tell-all book,
“[Meghan] began to understand that the British monarchy… was neither flush with money nor an invincible luxury Rolls-Royce machine.”
Meghan Markle, a gold digger?
The Random Encounters actor has indeed tried her best to make it big in showbiz again after she and Prince Harry parted ways from the royal family to live life on their own terms. First was the 41-year-old’s 2022 podcast Archetypes which marked her return to the entertainment industry.
Next was her and the duke of Sussex’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, with record-breaking streams. However, it was the 38-year-old’s tell-all memoir Spare that created shock waves in the royal family. The book revealed several disturbing and surprising details about both its writer and the British royals.
