Bradley Cooper is regarded as one of the most skilled actors and filmmakers in the entertainment industry. He is known for playing various characters on-screen with finesse, and because of this, he has appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list previously. The actor is not only one of the most influential people but is also known as one of the highest-paid actors in the industry.

Cooper not only starred but also directed his latest biographical romantic drama Maestro opposite Carey Mulligan. The movie showcased the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre. Upon its release, it received positive comments from the audience and the critics, and the chemistry between the two actors was highly appreciated. Cooper recently shared his first meeting with Mulligan.

Bradley Cooper’s ‘dramatic’ first meeting with Carey Mulligan

Actor Bradley Cooper, along with co-star Carey Mulligan, appeared on The Graham Norton Show where the Hangover actor opened up about their first meeting. He recalled that the actress was doing a play in the West Village of Manhattan, and he went in for the first preview. He further shared,

“Carey was in a one-woman show, and she came out and the key light was on her and she looked just like Felicia, who is Lenny’s wife so I went to meet her backstage and she was prone…because one of the sets had hit her in the top of her head halfway through the play. I went back and I was like, ‘Are you Ok?’”

Cooper continued to share the incident that took place in 2018;

“And she was not OK at all. And so we went to the emergency room. And that was our introduction to each other.”

Mulligan added that it was a 90-minute monologue and maybe half an hour before it ended. She got hit on the head quite badly, but she carried on because no one saw it. She explained that it was in a blackout, and when she got off stage, she just couldn’t stop crying, adding that she thought she was a goner.

The actress who was recently nominated for an Academy Award under the Best Actress category for her work in Maestro joked that her injury that day got her a job, so it was worth it.

Carey Mulligan talks about playing Bradley Cooper’s Character’s Wife Felicia Montealegre

In her cover story for Variety, the actress had discussed what made her want to play the character in Maestro adding that she had known Cooper for a long time as he’d come to see a lot of theatre she’d done in the past. Mulligan revealed that she has been an admirer of Cooper’s work both as an actor and director for a while, noting that A Star is Born ruined her.

Upon asking how did she channelize her Felicia, Mulligan shared,

“I went to Santiago and met her family. I spent a couple of days down there chatting with them and getting a sense of her. I saw some of her original artwork. I started by sitting with them making notes in a notebook and by about five minutes in I was like, ‘Well, this is just pointless. I just need to sit here and aborb this’, because the energy was just so incredible.”

The actress shared during the interview that she along with Cooper projected Lenny and Felicia’s relationship as it had prepared so much adding that they spent a week together doing a specific workshop just on their characters digging into who Lenny and Felicia were.

Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan’s hard work has been recognized as Maestro received the Academy Award nomination for Best Picture along with Cooper also receiving a nomination for Best Actor.
