“She was so normal. Didn’t go à la carte”: Princess Diana Made Gordon Ramsay Cook the “Best Meal” He’d Ever Made, Called Her the “Most Gracious Royal Family Member”
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has been cooking almost his entire life. Following his passion in the field, the Master Chef star had the opportunity to cook for many high-profile celebrities. During his 2016 interview with Daily Mail, he shared that he was fortunate enough to cook for Princess Diana and called it his “dream dinner date.” His answer was still the same when he was asked the question five years later.
During the first episode of his show, Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek!, he revealed what he considers the best meal he ever cooked. The show followed Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo, and French maître d’hôtel Fred Sireix as they traveled around Greece, exploring the culinary traditions, and spectacular landscapes of the Mediterranean country.
Gordon Ramsay’s Dream Dinner Date
During an interview with Daily Mail in 2016, Gordon Ramsay was asked about his ‘dream dinner date.’ After this, he revealed that he once had the opportunity to cook for Princess Diana, while he served at the London-based restaurant Aubergine.
He said,
“Lady Di. I was very fortunate to cook for her at Aubergine back in the early days.” Ramsay further added, “When she came in she was so normal. No airs and graces, security outside, she had the lunch menu and didn’t go a la carte. I think it was a pressed leek terrine and her main course was sea bass.”
The Kitchen Nightmares star was appointed as the head chef at Aubergine in 1993. According to his official website, the London-based restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars within three years of Ramsay overseeing the kitchen.
Gordon Ramsay Revealed The Best Meal He Ever Cooked
Gordon Ramsay will hardly forget the time he cooked for the Princess of Wales. His answer was still the same when he was asked about his best meal in 2021 during one of his shows.
During the first episode of Gordon, Gino, and Fred Go Greek! he revealed how and for whom he cooked the best meal of his life. When his fellow chef Gino D’Acampo asked him about the best meal he ever made, he was quick to reply saying, “Cooking for Lady Di.”
He said that Princess Diana was beautiful. Ramsay even compared her with the unmatched beauty of the Greek island of Santorini. The Hell’s Kitchen star said, “I mean, here’s renowned as the supermodel of the islets–Santorini.” He also claimed that she was “one of the most gracious members of the royal family” he has ever met.
