Gunn at the time said via Deadline,

“We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 year of her life and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She is much more hardcore; she’s not exactly Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

Previously Helen Slater and Sasha Calle have portrayed the character on-screen with Melissa Benoist portraying the character in Arrowverse. Actress Laura Vandervoort played Supergirl in the prequel series Smallville. No director has been attached to the project as of now and it is not confirmed if Alcock will appear in Superman: Legacy which is scheduled for a July 11th, 2025 release.
