It seems like Cruise did not miss Paris Fashion Week’s apparent altercation between Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek. At the Balenciaga show, the two actresses shared an awkward moment on the red carpet when Kidman moved Hayek’s hand away and proceeded to chat with Katy Perry.
The video of the interaction has been making the rounds on the internet for a while now. Although the sources from Daily Mail denied that there was tension between the two stars, the tension may have resulted from an overwhelming crowd of photographers.
Recently, an insider reported to In Touch that despite his busy schedule, Tom Cruise is taking an interest in the ongoing things between Hayek and Kidman. The insider said,
(Tom Cruise) keeps up with Hollywood news a lot more than he lets on, and this one definitely caught his eye, not just because it involved Nicole.
However, the insider said that Cruise’s interest in the Kidman-Hayek situation may prove to be counterproductive for Cruise.
He’s playing a pretty dangerous game, because it’s obviously going to get back to Nicole, and everyone knows that anything Tom says about her, especially if it’s the least bit negative, triggers an avalanche from her…If he’s not careful she will go on the attack and at this point in her life she’s not afraid to take the gloves off.
It only becomes even more sensitive given that Cruise and Kidman were married at one point. Following 11 years of marriage, they separated in 2001 due to “the difficulties inherent in divergent careers” (as per New York Daily News).
However, Kidman confessed to Ladies’ Home Journal magazine (via Today) that the divorce was a “major shock” to her. Although she might have long moved on from Cruise, the apparent involvement of her ex-husband won’t be a pleasant feeling for her.

Cruise and Hayek never worked together, but their friendship began in 2005 when the Mission: Impossible actor agreed to produce Ask the Dust, featuring the Mexican-born actress. The insider revealed to In Touch,

The source also clarifies that Cruise’s “admiration for her is purely platonic” and that “he really respects her talent and her work ethic and thinks she’s a class act.” However, the insider reports that Cruise is “trying to get the inside dirt and guessing it’s his ex-wife who’s to blame.”
