As an iconic American singer, Beyonce always assured her fans that her commitment and support to the LGBTQ+ community would not change in an era where rights for LGBTQ people have become fragile. It is no secret that the singer also strongly advocated marriage equality. Despite her direct support to the queer community, she is facing a huge backlash from the LGBTQ+ community over her recent big bang concert in Dubai.

LGBTQ+ Community Backlash Against Beyonce: Why?

During her $24M concert in Dubai, Queen Bey steamed her way through her latest performance, leaving her fans divided on the subject. Since she is a major supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and the city is not supportive of the laws protecting same-s*x relationships, performing in Dubai has become a controversial matter for her. Despite performing in Dubai, she also failed to perform on the songs of her album Renaissance which was hailed by the queer community in 2022.

As a result of her whole performance, she started getting backlash from LGBTQ+ fans, mostly for the reason that she did not mention them at all in her huge return on stage. Members of the LGBTQ+ community have lauded her 2022 album, Renaissance, as the summer’s most important album. Before Queen Bey’s seventh studio album dropped, she dedicated it to her late gay uncle Jonny, her children and husband, and LGBTQ change-makers.
