Contrary to popular belief, Solo Leveling does have a lot of characters that are simply waiting to be fleshed out. However, they are often not explored deeply in the anime since Sung Jinwoo’s aura is simply too much. Naturally, you’d want to know more about the hunters that surround Jinwoo.

Let’s start with Sung Jinwoo himself, the protagonist of the anime. He started off as an E-rank hunter, and even as an E-rank, he was the weakest. However, he quickly rose up to S-Rank, and then eventually became the strongest person in the story.
While he rarely needs any introduction, there are still some fun things to know about him that you may not know. For example, the anime changed his name to Shun Mizushino. However, it was later changed back to Jinwoo.

2. Cha Hae-In
Cha Hae-In is the primary female character in the anime and manhwa. She is one of the youngest S-Rank hunters and one of the top hunters in Korea. She joined the other S-Rank hunters on a mission on Jeju Island, where she was unfortunately hurt and saved by Jinwoo.
She eventually has a training session with Jinwoo, where she realizes just how strong Jinwoo is and slowly starts falling for him.

3. Thomas Andre
Thomas Andre was the strongest hunter in the entire world before Sung Jinwoo, the anomaly, showed up with his leveling system and became the actual strongest. He is a vessel for a ruler, which makes him really strong. He is also someone who was able to fight one of the strongest monarchs alone.
He is a large man, and with his skills, he can grow even larger. He is also prideful and arrogant, but also someone who went out of his way to give Dongsoo a proper funeral, even after every bad thing that he did.

4. Liu Zhigang
Liu Zhigang is the first national-level hunter to appear in the story, and worldwide, he is considered the second strongest national-level hunter. At the very end of the Jeju Island arc, he was seen using a single strike to kill thousands of flying ants that were heading towards China.
He was also fully prepared to assist during the Japan Crisis arc, but the Japanese government’s pride kept him on the sidelines. An important thing to note here is that his guild was never mentioned in the anime of manhwa, and was only confirmed in the Solo Leveling: Arise game, which is mostly non-canon.

5. Sung Il-Hwan
Sung Il-Hwan, father of Sung Jinwoo, is one of the strongest hunters in the anime, even if on paper he is technically missing. He was lost in the dungeons for a long time and was strong enough to survive against multiple monarchs at once.
He is also a vessel for a ruler, which gives him his strength. However, his body slowly gave up after the battle against monarchs as Sung Jinwoo watched him die.

6. Go Gunhee
Go Gunhee is an old man who was once one of the strongest hunters during his prime. He is one of the few people who realized what Sung Jinwoo was capable of really early in the story, and even Jinwoo himself has a lot of respect for this man.
He is also the one who made it so that Jinwoo could raid the dungeons alone, which really helped him out. Even in his old age, he was strong enough to hold off a monarch until Jinwoo came.

7. Baek Yoonho
Baek Yoonho is the guild master of the White Tiger Guild. He is one of the strongest S-Rank hunters in Korea and one of the characters who realized the potential in Jinwoo really early on. He is an ambitious man who wouldn’t back off from a fight when it was about protecting others. Originally, he belonged to the Fiend Guild, but he left to make his own.

8. Choi Jong-In
Choi Jong-In is the guild master of the Hunters Guild, so he’s basically Cha Hae-In’s boss. He is a mage-class S-Rank hunter whose flames can burn down even giants. From his personality, one would think he is more of a salesman than a hunter, as he is probably the most level-headed hunter out there.

9. Min Byung-Gyu
Min Byung-Gyu was an S-Rank healer, which actually made him really valuable. While there were a lot of S-Rank fighters and mages going around, he was one of the very few who could save a life after an extremely fatal hit.
That’s why he was at Jeju Island as well. He was eventually killed, but then revived by Sung Jinwoo as a shadow soldier to heal Cha Hae-In. Feeling like he was a good man, Sung Jinwoo then let him go and rest in peace.

10. Park Heejin
Park Heejin is a B-Rank hunter from the White Tiger Guild. She was one of the hunters who was stuck inside the Red Gate along with Sung Jinwoo and others. She appears for a short while in the anime but is one of the first hunters to learn how strong Sung Jinwoo really is.
She was also present during the Monarchs War arc, which, if you liked the Jeju Island arc, was arguably even better.

11. Lee Joohee
Lee Joohee was one of the very first characters that were introduced in the story. She was a B-Rank Healer and also the person that we can thank for Jinwoo even being alive. She is the one who always took care of him when he was heavily injured from battles against simple goblins.
While a lot of fans wanted her to be Sung Jinwoo’s love interest, that didn’t really happen. In fact, she went away from being a Hunter after the trauma she received in the double dungeon.

12. Song Chi-Yul
Song Chi-Yul was a C-Rank Hunter and a kumdo teacher. He was also one of the six members who survived the double dungeon incident. He is someone who was really nice to Jinwoo, and even when Jinwoo was the weakest hunter of all time, in turn, he respected him a lot as well.
However, he holds a lot of guilt for letting Jinwoo die (even if he came out mysteriously fine).

13. Yoo Jinho
Yoo Jinho is the friend of Sung Jinwoo whom he made during his dungeon explorations. He is a D-Rank, but he has a lot of corporate experience due to his dad owning the Yoojin guild. He is the partner of Sung Jinwoo, as together they opened Ahjin Guild. Though weak, he is someone really important in Jinwoo’s life.

14. Han Song-Yi
Han Song-Yi is the classmate of Sung Jinwoo’s sister and an E-Rank hunter; for this, she had dropped out of school. Jinwoo actually tried to persuade her to go back to school by exposing what it really means to be a hunter, and she ended up being present during the Red Gate arc, where Jinwoo protected her.
Even though she survived the Red Gate, the experience really shocked her, and she went back to school.
