After a long wait this year, Natalie Portman was again back at Cannes to participate in the premiere of The Zone of Interest, written and directed by Jonathan Glazer.

With respect to the movie and her role in it, Natalie Portman reflected on how there is a discrepancy in the way men and women are expected to behave. She used the stage to talk about disparities that women face and how women’s behavior is highly related to societal expectations. Along the same lines, She even bought up current scenarios, such as at the Cannes Film Festival. She argued, “Even here, the different ways we, as women, are expected to behave at this festival even compared to men… how we’re supposed to look, how we’re supposed to carry ourselves”.

It affects how you behave, whether you are buying into or rejecting it. You’re defined by the social structures upon you”.
