Kate Bush has gained popularity ever since the premiere of Season 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix in May. Her 1985 hit song, Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) has become the Internet’s favourite ever since it saved Max Mayfield from the horrific villain Vecna in Episode 4 of Volume 1. The singer has earned millions from royalties alone and now the song is at the No. 1 spot on Global Spotify.

Kate Bush allowed the Duffer Brothers to use the song in the show because she herself is a fan of the sci-fi series. At the time, little did she know that her song would gain immense popularity and attain over 7 million streams on Spotify. The song has been in the No.1 spot on the Global Spotify list for the last 5 days and it seems like it will continue to stay there since Volume 2 of the season is out now on Netflix.

The song recently broke three records due to its return to the top of the UK Singles Chart. The singer recently posted a message on her website in which she talked about the song’s success.

Whoooo Hoooo everybody!  I just can’t believe it  –  No. 1 for the third week. We’re all so excited!  In fact, it’s all starting to feel a bit surreal,” the singer said.

The singer also expressed happiness towards the Duffer Brothers for choosing her song and stated,

“I’d only seen the scenes that directly involved the use of the track and so I didn’t know how the story would evolve or build. I was so delighted that the Duffer Brothers wanted to use RUTH for Max’s totem but now having seen the whole of this last series, I feel deeply honoured that the song was chosen to become a part of their roller-coaster journey.”
