Sony PlayStation 5 Price Will Be “Appealing to Gamers”
PlayStation 5 (PS5) was the most talked topic this Tuesday. After a long wait, Sony finally spoke openly about not only its existence but also what the next-gen console will be capable of. Everything sounded pretty assuring between talks of GPUs, solid-state drives, and backwards capability of Sony PS5. But there was one detail that was left out. The price! We still don’t know exactly how much the new PS5 will cost. According to the new information that’s been shared by Sony, it suggests that the PS5 price will be “appealing to gamers” even with all these coveted features.

Mark Cerny’s Interview with the Wired
The first promising details regarding PlayStation 5 were revealed by the Wired. It was revealed in an interview with Mark Cerny, the lead system architect. Currently, the new console is being referred by Sony as a next-gen console instead of deliberately calling it the PlayStation 5.

For some time, there has been a huge discussion regarding the console’s possible pricing options. Seeing this, Wired’s Peter Rubin shared a quote on Twitter which didn’t make it into the initial story. Rubin pointed out to Cerny that there’s always been a general price range people expect from new console launches. But, Cerny didn’t specify whether the PlayStation 5 would fall within that window. Instead, Cerny said the price would be “appealing to gamers in light of its advanced feature set.”

Rubin pressed the question by asking if Mark Cerny’s comments meant that the console might cost a bit more. But in the end, Cerny couldn’t offer any additional details.

If you didn’t know, the PlayStation 4 was launched with a suggested price of $399. It was an improvement from the prices set from the PlayStation 3. The latter released many years ago for two different prices at $499 or $599 depending on which version buyers wanted. To summon what Cerny said, the price of the new PlayStation 5 could really be anywhere within that range. But it sounds like it might be more on the higher end!
For now, we don’t have the official PS5 release date nor we know how much it will cost. All we know is, PlayStation5 or PS5 won’t be revealed in the year 2019!
