Spotify Kicks Out Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Podcast After Royal Couple Failed to Uphold Deal
Back in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made 20 million dollars worth of deals with the music platform Spotify. However, the couple’s Archetypes podcast will not be getting a second season as it was recently confirmed that the two parties have mutually ended the deal and have decided to part ways. As far as the reports go, there is no one confirmed reason behind the decision. Although the podcast series did very well last year, apparently lack of required content and a couple’s view on someone like Joe Rogan being on the same platform might have played a role in it.
Spotify’s 20-Million-Dollars Deal With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Has Come to An End
Recently it has come to light that despite its good reception, Meghan Markle-hosted Spotify podcast Archetypes will be discontinued without a second season. The deal made back in 2020 between the music platform and the royal couple’s Archewell foundation, which amounted to 20 million dollars has ended prematurely. It was shared via a joint statement that the two parties had,
“mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”
The news was confirmed via The New York Post on Thursday by an insider. However, reportedly Markle and Prince Harry will continue making the content of the podcast if they get a better deal with another company.
This means it is not the complete end of the contents but a temporary halt. The reason behind the decision according to insider information seems to be a lack of required content by the couple. And another possible reason is that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex started questioning the deal due to Joe Rogan.
His controversial opinion on covid-19 vaccine led the couple to question if they wanted to be linked with the same platform as Rogan. This might have resulted in their decision for the premature end of their deal after three years.
A Brief Look at Archetypes Podcast
Spotify’s Archetypes podcast was hosted by Meghan Markle. It was created to discuss and dissect the labels that hold women down in society. In every episode, a guest makes an appearance to discuss these issues for an hour-long episode. Some of the guests include celebrities such as Mindy Kaling, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, etc.
The last episode came out in November last year. But unfortunately, the podcast series has been discontinued and will not be getting a second season.
