Justin Timberlake’s DUI Arrest Contrasts Sharply with Past Plea
At the 2007 Brit Awards, Justin Timberlake won the award for International Male Solo Artist. During his acceptance speech, which started off casually, the pop star included a comment that seemed to be directed at someone. He didn’t mention a name, though. Check out his quote:
Stop drinking. You know who you are, I’m speaking to you. Stop drinking, you’re gonna get sloppy, OK is gonna say something bad about you.
“Stop drinking. You know who you are, I’m speaking to you. Stop drinking, you’re gonna get sloppy, OK is gonna say something bad about you,” Justin Timberlake (@jtimberlake) said to @BritneySpears in 2007.

It wasn’t clear who it was for. However, many thought it was meant for Britney Spears, who was going through a tough time in her personal life at that time. Spears and Timberlake, once considered Hollywood’s golden couple, saw their romance crumble after nearly four years (1999 to 2002).
According to Complex, the Gimme More singer may have cheated during their relationship. The breakup got messy when the former member of NSYNC released his song Cry Me a River, which many believed was about Spears’ infidelity. The music video even featured a woman who looked a lot like the songstress.
The pop princess, undoubtedly, went through a difficult phase in 2007. Photographers captured her shaving her head at a salon, and she was later seen hitting a photographer’s car with an umbrella.
US Weekly reported the then 26-year-old was struggling with personal issues, including substance abuse, an undisclosed mental health condition, and a tough custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Fast forward to 2024 (after the clip), and Timberlake finds himself facing his own cautionary tale — getting arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).
He is now facing charges of DWI, running a stop sign, and failing to stay in his lane. The Mirrors star was released on his own recognizance after a court appearance on Tuesday morning and will have to return to court for a hearing later in July.
