After the latest season of the sci-fi horror series Stranger Things aired on Netflix and became one of the most popular TV hits, it has been a while since fans have heard about anything from the cast or the producers. Until Noah Schnapp shared a lighthearted video on his TikTok account revealing his sexual orientation to his 31.4 million followers. The 18-year-old actor playing the central character Will Byers, came out of the closet, on January 5th.

Stranger Things fans have always had questions regarding Will Byers’ sexual orientation throughout the show. Schnapp had previously been cryptic about his character’s sexual orientation until this year when he confirmed the speculations through his TikTok post.

Scared and closeted for 18 years Noah Schnapp finally came out as gay

Noah Schnapp, the teen crush of several fans throughout the world came out as gay, and shockingly enough very few people were taken by surprise. The University of Pennsylvania freshman, Noah Schnapp, said he was scared to reveal his sexual orientation to his friends and family for the past 18 years. Although upon revealing the news, the teen celebrity got appreciated for being brave and finally coming out of the closet, not just by his family and friends but even by his fans online.

The TikTok video from Noah Schnapp with a selfie-style clip read “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,’”. Schnapp even stated, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought,” as a caption to his video.

Schnapp’s video on TikTok received plaudits in the comment section stating “THE SCREAM I JUST LET OUT”, “Slay” “NOAH UR ICONIC” and “Not you coming out for you AND Will”. Among all the praises there happened to be a truly appreciating comment quoting “Can we all appreciate that Noah just came out to the whole world and realize how much courage it takes to do that when you’re a literal celebrity”. Few fans expressed admiration for Schnapp’s courage, while others simply claimed they “knew it” just like his friends and family.

Noah Schnapp opened up to Variety about Will Byers being different in season 4 of Stranger Things

Set against the backdrop of the 1980s in a fictional Indiana town, the series revolves around Eleven, a young girl with telekinetic powers, who alongside her friends battle supernatural creatures. The adolescent drama deals with mysteries, friendship, love, and family, everything that makes it a popular TV show. The series recently launched its fourth season and have revealed that there will be an upcoming fifth season which is to be the finale.

After the release of volume 1 of season four, in an interview with Variety, Schnapp insisted on keeping things “up to the audience’s interpretation” when asked about Will’s sexuality. However, following the conclusion of season four, Schnapp opened up about his character Will being different, “Will has never really found anywhere to fit in” Schnapp said. I mean, it’s pretty clear this season that Will has feelings for Mike” he added “Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc.”

Fans from all over the globe have sent love for Noah Schnapp and have lauded him for coming out.
