Despite being such a popular show on Netflix, it’s making headlines for a negative reason. Recently, the writer duo of the legal drama made a shocking revelation about the show. According to the writer, they were paid extremely low, in accordance with the humongous profit the show made.

Suits Writer Breaks Silence On Being Paid Peanuts For The Popular Show

Amidst the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes skeletons from the closets are being dragged out by the writers and creative artists. Before OTT platforms took over the entertainment industry around the world, writers were offered decent pay which gradually rose with the popularity of the show. The creative minds behind the conceptualization of the show were also awarded for their contribution.

Writer sisters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman spoke about the reputed show Suits. They even mentioned their low pay for documenting one of the popular shows in the entertainment industry. Lilla Zuckerman pointed out-

“I received $12,568.57 in residuals. That was back in 2016 when I imagine it was probably being sold internationally and re-airing in the USA. This year, 2023, where Suits has been viewed for billions and billions of hours on Netflix, I received a grand total of $414.26 on that episode.”

She further explained-

“You can’t necessarily count on [residual checks]. But people really did back in the day. When things would air on a network or basic cable, the work that you put in on a show — that the companies are still making money off of and they’re still monetizing — you were fairly compensated for that. And that is no longer the case…All we’re asking for is to go back to the functional way it was before.”

One of the major reasons for the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes is the disparity in the residual pay in the era of OTT. The creative minds do not get their due as the streaming platforms easily provide access to the consumers

Suits Producer On The Return Of Meghan Markle To Popular Legal Drama

Meghan Markle rose to fame with the reputed legal drama Suits. She portrayed the character of Rachel Zane, a legal intern who worked under the leadership of Harvey Specter played by the iconic actor Gabriel Macht. Recently the producer of Suits Gene Klein spoke about the legal drama and the possibility of Meghan Markle’s return to the show. He pointed out-

“I, obviously, had a sense when I found out it was coming to Netflix (that) it would probably get another burst of viewing and that kind of thing, but I did not think this would happen. While keeping everybody involved, getting all the actors’ deals done, and keeping them involved through the end of the show” would prove to be quite the challenge.”
