While there were a few things from the book that did not make it to the screen, the reaction to the movie was mixed from critics and the audience. The casting initially miffed fans, as the characters in the book are much younger compared to the actors cast to play them. One thing that disappointed the fans was the appearance of Lily Bloom, who in the books is red-haired and fair-skinned, whereas Lively is blond.

However, fans saw the movie and pointed out some familiar faces that managed to make a sneaky cameo in the movie.

1. Colleen Hoover

The author of It Ends With Us, Colleen Hoover, makes a brief cameo in the movie as a guest at Alyssa’s party. The writer can be spotted chatting and even gets a full-screen appearance at one point. She, in conversation with E! News, shared,

I do make a cameo in the movie. And it was a tough day. All I did was stand there and pretend to be talking in a party scene, but just know that it took 12 hours to film. It was insane.

Hoover said that she didn’t understand how actors do this, noting that one day of pretending to act was one of the hardest jobs for her.

Justin actually bought the film rights for the book. He sent me a really lovely letter saying how much the book meant to him. And as we kind of went along in the process, he was like, ‘Oh, I think I might want to direct this.’.

The author explained that she was thrilled as she had watched his previously directed movie, Five Feet Apart, and believed in his direction.
